ESP & ABS lights

After driving the RS4 the length of the country to get it home about quarter of a mile from my front door I hit one of Aberdeen’s infamous pot holes. The car hit it with a thud and the ABS and ESP light immediately came on. I pulled over, killed the ignition an restarted, the lights were gone and did not reappear for a full week. Now however the lights seem to be coming on randomly, killing the ignition and restarting always get rid of them and they’ll either stay off or flick back on randomly whilst driving. Any ideas? I thought perhaps an ABS sensor, though I have read that the MAF may also be responsible. Since hitting a pot hole was the initiator the latter seems unlikely to me. Will VAG COM tell me what’s up? The car is going in to get its MAF changed as a matter of course so I can get the garage to have a look but any thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers

Gregor

First port of call would be VAG-COM as something should be recorded.

If not then check sensor wiring, etc

Okay, so I had the car checkout out and VAG COM flagged the following.

Sender1 For Brake Booster G201
Brake Light Switch –F Incorrect signal Intermittent.

Had a look at the VAG COM Wiki and I’m none the wiser to be honest but I’m wondering if it could be linked to this.

The car runs fine but I’ve noticed that the Y-Pipe pressure limiting valve has quite a lot of oil/muck around it.

Any thoughts would be welcome.

Yes could well be the brake pedal switch. If pressing the ESP switch doesn't turn the lights off only the ignition then a swtich/temporary issue is likely. Not expensive at all to replace...
