so my car is showing the tell tale signs of a differential going bad, or at least a bearing. has anyone on the board had to replace the center differential or is replacing the bearing and re packing with proper lube the solution. i am in the usa so having access to an oem replacement for the rs4 center dif may be a hastle. does the s4 and rs4 share parts for the differential ? i know the bias is different. i realize this is long winded, forgive me, every time something goes bonkers with my car i tend to panic.
cheers !!!

Sorry I can't help with any of your questions, however if you need help procuring parts in Europe and getting them shipped to the US, I'd be pleased to help as I travel back and forth quite a bit.

Any more definitiion of the "tell tale signs of a differential going bad"?

The rear bearing is not difficult to change. You don't have to remove the gearbox. Just remove the drive shaft, and then some bolts that hold the end cover. There is a spring pushing it out (but not much), be careful. There are also few shims, look that how those are installed. Then pull the TorSen away. In the other end of the TorSen is bearing.

The other end TorSen bearing is more difficult to change, you have to open the gearbox to get to it.
