I was woken at 1.15 last night to a smash and loud thud i grabbed my baseball bat and legged it down stair to see some scum bag going out of my window i ran to the front door opened it to see two hoodies running to my car but when they have pressed the key my dads cars opened not mine as i keep my keys hidden so one jumped into my dads cars while the other one was shouting at me not to move, yer right so i legged it at him an took a swing then he ran off, so then i ran to my dads car just as he was starting it up, he started to move backwards to get out of the drive so i took a swing at the at the window of the car to smash it in which it did, the look of pannick on his face was priceless, then he tryed to run me over knocking me on in to next doors garden. Then he drove out of the drive so i chased him down the road because he had stopped to pick up his scum bag mate, which gave me time to get up to the car so then i smash the back window of the car in to make it look to dodge for them to use on the road. The police were there in no time at all, after 4 hours of statement they were telling me that audi are the in car to nick and the rs4 are done to order plus they think that there are using these type of forums to try and find them so keep your details to a min, anyway they found his car about 5mins from my house this morning the police think that what i had done to the windows had made the car to much of a risk to drive or use as it would have been to easy for the police to spot, so my car is being fitted with a tracker response tomorrow.
So beware chaps there are scum bags everywhere
Jason

You might want to think about an anti-hijack device too! They immobilise the car after 2 mins, regardless of speed.

sorry to hear about this rs4boy most important thing is you are ok. however a nice protection trained dog is an excellent deterrent - you'd be surprised what a well trained dog can do!

Autowatch is the way to go IMO. Simple and effective and they will not have a clew what has happened.

F@ck! This really worries me, I've read of a few similar attempts on RS forums lately........ Glad to hear you car was safe and there was minimal damage to your fathers and it was returned quickly. Not much consolation though.
Dave does the Autowatch device cut the power regardless of speed etc? I’ve heard of one that cuts throttle response as they come to a halt but would prefer one that simply cuts the power regardless.
What about decent tracking devices? What does everyone recommend as being the best and how much are they? Don’t really have much faith in Tracker to be honest, I’ve heard too many negative comments in the past.

smartrack seem to have a good reputation
280 fitted and 120 ish per annum or a payment of 325 for the life of ownership of car
or autowatch ks-999 which texts you, maybe less reliable service than smartrack as they have a 24hr call centre and the product seems better supported

Worrying news. Glad to hear you're ok buddy and good man for giving them hell! Swear I'd lose the plot and all sense of self protection if I found someone gonig at mine.
I take it most of these are 'steal the keys from the house to steal the car' type affairs? Not break into the car and hotwire it (or whatever other wonderful methods they probably ahve now-a-days).
Keys moved from frontdoor to bedside cabinet tonight....

Autowatch cuts the power as soon as it gets a text message from any phone. Great product IMO. Simple operation and cheap in comparison to Smartrack etc. No monthly subscriptions just a pay as you go simcard. They also do an option to locate the vehicle through GPS once the scumbags have abandoned the car.

Almost impossible to steal the car without the Keys.

just fit an FIA kill switch under the dash.
simple, cheap and unless your thief knows it is there and has time to rewire it, he is going no where

Glad your dad got the car back & nobody was injured in the making of this thread......
The way I see it, I'd rather they get the keys. drive 2 miles away then have to abandon the car cos it's been immobilised.
If you take the keys with you to bed (and stash them down your pants or whatever) then if the people trying to steal the car are a bit more hardened than teenage hoodies, do you really want the possible scenario of them trying to come upstairs (where the kids are asleep) and taking the keys by force?
Perhaps if you live alone or house share with blokes, it wouldn't be a problem, but if like me you've got small children in the house I just wouldn't want to take the risk.
