Hi everybody,

I need help! Im still trying to replace the headlight & side light bulbs on my B5 RS4 for some clear ones and i cant get the backs of the headlights off! ahhhhhh! & i wouldnt have thought it would be very difficult.

As i look at the back of the headlight there is a metal clip, undo that and the top of the plastic panel comes away but there isnt enough room to get to the bulbs, and there isnt enough room to open it completely.

Does anyone know if (or how) i have to remove the power supply clip to the headlights before removing the plastic panel? Or can anyone give me a description of how they've done it themselves.

Otherwise im gona have to admit defeat and take it somewhere, but i know once ive done it once it'll be alot easier to repeat.

When i've finally done it i'll post some piccies.

Any assistance is much appreciated! :?

I agree with the previous poster, taking out the whole headlamp unit is the easiest way to get access and change the bulbs.

Thanks for the replys, i tried this but to no avail, the two screws in the top of the headlight no probs but the bottom of the headlight seems to be held in by the bumper, it wasnt going anywhere easily and i really dont want to have to remove the bumper to change the headlight bulbs, but if thats the only way....... :bash:

There's another screw at the bottom of the unit, on the inboard side. A bit fiddly to get to, and I have used a telescopic magnet to lift the screw once it's fully released. Finally, as I remember, there's a kind of spigot (I think that's the technical term) on the outside of the unit, that locates into the bumper, which needs careful maipulation to release.
