have some new wheels arriving and they need boots
looking at 245/40/18's
My toss up is between:
Michelin Pilot Sports - been recommended, got 20k miles out of his, good grip, quiet etc, coming in around £170 a corner

Goodyear Eagles GSD3 - had them before, thought they were very good in the wet and dry but a bit sketchy when seriously cold in ice and snow - comes in £160 a corner

Toyo Proxe TR1 - never had them, no real personal recommendation, heard good things about them, know lots of people use them on tracks about £140-150 each.

need grip, lots of it, I like corners and enjoy a spirited drive. It is coming into Winter though. I am not too worried about getting "18 months and 25k" out of them if they a very good (read "like glue"), so long as they do 12-15k I will be happy.

have michelin Pilot's of some description on now and they are good but I don't see the huge longevity that the other Michelin model claims, mine shouldered pretty quickly but are pretty grippy.
I had Pirelli P6000's. wouldn't use them as a crash barrier on a track they were so bad, like driving on soap!

Anyone got some real experiences of the tyres above or any alternatives.
don't really want to drop £6-700 on a complete whim!

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetricals are highly recommended, and quite cost effective at about ~£140 delivered.

Love the GSD3, but as you can't get them anymore, I'll be going down the F1 Asymmetrical route next.

Have tried PS2s, F1s, PZeros and Dunlop Sports. IMO PS2s are the best but they're expensive, the F1s are my 2nd choice.

Michelin ps2 suit the car very well and ive not bothered trying anything else.Ive had good mileage out of them and its well planted in all weathers so cant ask any more than that really!

Came with Toyo's which were rubbish, changed to PS2's which were nothing short of excellent, then I change to Eagle F1's as they get great reviews, however I cannot 'get on with them', so I will be changing back to PS2's

i would recommend these aswell . i had the ps2`s before the F1`s and i would say they are as good but cost more and i find the F1`s better in the wet .i paid £206 each for the ps2`s and £152 each for the F1`s both fitted.

wrong size should be 255 35 18

thanks
have them on. they have a fair amount of material out past the rim as it is (the design as much as the size) I know a lot of people are running 255/35 but I think on these rims they would be way too wide.

I am running KWV3's so the extra profile is actually quite a nice ride without being like a limo.
