Tune it or keep it standard?

Hi Everone, I'm new to RS246 as I've just purchased a mint 2001 B5 in Goodwood from a friend. The car is totally standard and my question is should I modify it or not? I'm really impressed with the performance but like everyone else, wonder whether I could get more BHP easily and without comprimising reliability.
So should I modify and of so which tuner is the best? Also what about an exhaust, I've heard Milltek is a vast improvement but is it too noisy?

MRc tuning in Banbury is where I took mine for the custom remap and it's awesome.
The car drives as it should do now.
Doug won't work on the car until he has given it a healthcheck.

A milltek system with the pre cats removed will make a vast improvement ,

My suggestion is that you take it a step at a time. With my RS4, the only mod I accompished is a remap by MTM. Other than the petrol octane rating, there are no compromises associated with that. I track the car several times a year and it is also my daily driver and family taxi (mostly the later).
With my S4, I went a lot further and did the AMS/ABT remap, Miltek system and coil over suspension and frankly, I think I went a little too far in that it affected the car's daily usability quite a bit. The Miltek system on my S4 is not a perfect fit and I am just waiting for it to have to be "adjusted" again not to hit certain parts of the underbody of the car. The H&R suspension is too harsh for a daily driver - IMHO.
Take it a step at a time and start with the remap if you want to. That already gives you 420 hp and a lot to play with.

Thanks RS4Fan, that sounds like sensible advice. I've heard good things about MTM. Is QST the best place to go?

Rettopsman. Take a while reading through the forum and use the search function to find info on what you want and where to go to get it done. Lots of veiws on here about different tuners. Mine is that MRC are the best tuner for the B5 engine. Anything from custom map to 700+BHP monsters
Read this from Loomx about his remap from MRC
