Has anyone roughly estimated the depreciation of RS4s?

The way I'd look at it is let's say an example with 50k miles was £20,000 in 2006.

Add 10k miles a year so a similar spec example with 70k miles is now £18,000 roughly.

So depreciation of roughly 10% for the past 2 years?

Anyone care to have a go?

Too many variables to consider to forecast what the future depreciation will be.

Rising fuel prices and higher tax banding for newer B5 RS4's will play a part in their future resale values I suspect.

Also think an RS4 with 50k on in 2006 would have gone for way more than £20k.
Up until last year I don't remember seeing any for sale for less than £20k, but now you can pick one up for less than £15k!

Thanks. Just posted in the thread below this about 2 Avuses on Auto-trader both on 15k and a Steel blue for 13995.

That green one went for 12 something didn't it.

Granted the cheaper ones look dodgy but those two Avuses look fairly straight!

As most people will tell you, you need to see up close before you can tell how good it is and how much work it needs or has had - £3k doesn't go far even on a better than average car if you want it 'right'.

I paid 26k for a 38k mint Avus in early 2007 on a Y plate from a Dealer.

I'd not want to sell it for anything under 22k now (If I was selling) and it's on 55k.

talking to my gf's uncle he bought one new at 50k early on he sold for 35k 2.5 years later, must have been pretty early in the B5 RS4 production run

Which is better than the B7 really in comparison.

very true, for used cars and especially for such a specialised car, I'd need to do the due diligence

There are numerous cases of the newer model being worth less, here are a few;

Porsche 911 - 993 vs 996
VW - Mk2 Golf GTI vs Mk3
Ford - Escort Cosworth vs Focus RS

The newer models are 'Ikea' cars, the older ones are more 'antique'.

Buy cheap if you want, but personally I'd only buy from an enthusiast who knows the car inside out.

Chances are, if you buy one for 13k, you will need to spend about 3-4k on it in the near future anyway

I paid £25k for mine Dec07, '02, 38k miles, every extra +short shift, lowered susp and mtm remap, went for best I could find and glad I did, its been faultless.. I'd sell for a few K lower to live my 993TT fantasy

Mines gone now, I am in the motor trade and managed to get a good deal when I bought it as the Audi Centre needed to get rid of over-age stock even though car had been full prepared with new discs/pads all round and an Approved Used Car checklist pamphlet.
Bought Feb 07 at 59k miles, sold Aug 08 at 71k miles for £500 more than I paid for it though service maintenance and repair costs over that time came to around £2.5k so cost me around £2k which isn't too bad considering miles covered, someone I know lost more than that on an A4 2.5 TDI which he paid £12k for.

I think the costs of fixing things and replacing worn out items can be almost as big a hit as depreciation if you buy a duffer.

prices have only dropped off due to the credit crunch:)
These cars being very limited in number will always demand a good price.You might have to play a waiting game to sell but the cars will sell.Especially low milage well cared for examples
