Independant engineers report needed - recommendations????

Following a long legal battle and many delays a Sytner Audi lawyers have settled out of court and my RS4 (2001) has had a brand nice new engine and gear box recently fitted by a non audi garage!

I am keen to get an "independant" engineers report before taking this car back since the company who put the engine and gearbox in have had a checkered past reading this forum recently!

The car is in Ikeston, Derby and I would be grateful for any recommendations?

I was thinking of getting Audi in to look at this but becasue of the high profile legal battle I was reluctant to do so. But do I have a choice given likely want to sell the car?

An ideas?

Thanks Adrian

Have you given the garage sufficient opportunity to rectify the problems?

I have not seen the car for over a year ! I have not driven the car since the work has been done. There have been severe delays with the engine being put in and the first gear box failed and "apparently" it is running absolutely fine. BUT I am concerned and want to make sure their workmanship has been done correctly since clearly a speciaised car etc

Why not drive, or have the vehicle trailered down to one of the well known tuners and get them to do a full health check on the car.

You will then have a credible report authored by people who know this car inside out.

You do need to be careful when making defamatory statements like this in such a public way as most of their customers will have had good service (many of which are members of this forum) and yes some have had problems but I am sure that's true of every garage, specialist or not.

Hope you now have your answer and can get the car inspected as required.

5th Gear,

I thought forums were the place for fellow car owners to voice their experiences (good or bad)? ;

For the record - Sportstech had the go ahead from the lawyers to replace engine in August of 2007 and have only just finished the work! whilst some delays were in the engine being manufactered in Germanny this is till a ridiculous length of delay having a car repaired I am sure you will agree! If after the relevant inspection it is clear that Sportstech had carried out the repairs correctly then I will post to that effect on this post.

Thanks Adrian

If you want to be specific and state facts than please do rather than inferring a garage is having 'difficulties' - I certainly haven't been made aware of this via this forum.

Why not start at the beginning and explain the Sytner lawyers bit and go on from there, then we can make our own opinions up.
Or don't go into unnecessary detail e.g. don't specify the town making it obvious who you mean and simply ask for advice on a specialist which we'll all be happy to help with (as we have been).

I hope you sort it all out, it sounds frustrating for all parties concerned.

Inferring like this you mean:

Sportstech make their own reputation... unless you also have had recent dealings with them to give us your feedback?

Sorry to hear of your woes Adrian, I sincerely hope this is all sorted for you now.

Am I undermining somebody's business and all the hard work they have put into developing it by inferring this? I don't think so and if you can't see that having illegal plates on a car is a bad sign well best of luck to you
