Clutch & Syncro - where should I buy them??

Hi all,
As some of you might have seen in my previous thread I have been have some gearbox issues, on speaking to Grizz (the man is a legend...even I would have told me to piss off by now but he keeps offering his much appreciated advice) I have been advised to have a local garage (a mate of mine so I trust him not to trash anything) get the gearbox out to have a look at the clutch and while its out get the uprated syncros put in.
My question is where is best to source those parts???
Do I go for an OEM clutch or somthing else???
As always thanks in advance
Andy

I would go for a stock clutch, but make sure it is the RS4 specific pressure plate if buying from an independant parts supplier.
The syncro's you'll have to get from Audi. And I hear there is a "repair kit" which has all the bits and costs less, than buying them individually

Sorry for the late reply Jimbo, I've been on a course in Birmingham and haven't been able to get on here for a few days. Thanks for the offer but I'm going to wait and see what is required before I order anything.
Cheers
Andy

Whats in these repair kits anyway, and what problem(s) does it cure?
Is it replacement gears or synchros, or gears and synchros?
Mines has had a slightly noisy 1st gear ever since i got it, however it doesnt affect the engaging of any gears, just a noise only.

1st & 2nd syncro carbon coated + hub no gears included or needed

Is that hub same as a slider? The 1st to 2nd slider is needed with the new style syncros but its pretty expencive IIRC.

So in relation to the 2nd part\question, is the noise I'm experiencing likely to be resolved by replacement with the aforementioed kit?
Cheers

no grant the 1st-2nd repair kit will only fix the poor selection fault between 1st and 2nd gear (crunch),this is achived with a molyhidium carbonised coating on the synchro ring to improve gear braking and making selection easier
