How to change the outside temp sensor.

Post by zeshan1982 » Tue May 20, 2008 12:06 am

Hi All

Have been trying to change the outside temp sensor, but the grill doesn't want to clip out.
I dont want to apply any force, just incase it breaks, is this a bumper off job.

The grille is held on with clips that push on from behind. To do it properly you do need to remove the bumper.

Yep, right PITA. I'm living with the dodgy temperature readings because of this. The front bumper isn't difficult to get off, but it's almost impossible to get the gaps right down the sides when you put it back on.

I've taken mine off twice now, and have had no problems with alignment.

You have to take it off to do a timing belt change, so all of the RS4's out there will have had the bumper removed at some point in their life cycle by now!

Undertray off, couple of Torx screws either side holding the arch liner, and then two 5mm alan screws either side holding the bumper to the wing, and then one main bolt each side going through the bumper shocks, which are accessed by removing the side bumper grilles.

20mins tops with a ramp!
