Hi everyone,

As you know I am looking for a new car which will require a new insurance quote. My car will be standard and I was going with Elephant.co.uk before but they can't give me a quote untill the claim has gone through!! So it brings me to find out what people use for there insurance.

I'm 24 and now have 1 years no claims 3 points and 2 accidents, 1 my fault and 1 someone else.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Nick

Hmm... mine is standard also...

I'm 25, have ~4 years no claims (but cannot prove it so stated none) tried to get a quote with Direct line and they said they would NEVER insure me on such a vehicle unless I had at least 2 years' no claims

Ended up getting it with them though for ~1100 (I think) with missus on policy (5+years no claims)...

Marcus

If you want a ball park figure try a comparison site like confused - I've usually found that less hassle than contacting insurers directly.

Alternatively, you could try Elephant's website withe the same details although you usually have to mis-spell your name so that it will quote - something that I have had to do with Admiral/Elephant at renewal time.

I'm 27 with 7 years no claims no points and modded car. Its about £700 per year with protected no claims from Adrian Flux. Asked about putting girlfriend on insurance (to try and get cost down not to actually let her drive...) but she's only 24 and they wouldn't even let her be a named driver until she was over 25...

To be honest if you are under 25 and have points/claims in the last 3 years I would suggest anything under 2k is probalby a bargin...

Good luck!

My God I'm a fossil!!! :boohoo: I've had to work my way up to my present RS4- kudos to you guys for checking in early to the experience!! Started with a 2.0 Coupe in '86, Calibra Turbo new in '92-'95- utter <beep>, 1.8T new in '95 til '03 - never a problem with it- utterly extraordinary in 7 years, 1.8TQ Sport (3 yrs old) '03-'06- still no problems, first RS April 06- Jun '07- again no problems- see the pattern emerging?, now on my second RS and up to see Doug tomorrow for ARB's and rear B7 brake conversion!
Oh forgot to mention <£700 for everything below combined- sorry :o
Combination of Churchill (not multi-car) and Devitt (bikes) and being an old git........

I'd be surprised if you got it below £1,500. I'm 34 (no no claims of my own anymore (long story), 9 points) but everying insured through the wife and Diamond with me as named driver - fully comp £540 in London, £150 excess, but then she's a fossil like me with nine years no claims. Diamond was about £1000 cheaper than anyone else on confused.com

Sounds similar to the quote I ran through Elephant recently - 37, SW11, 9yrs no claims, clean license and parked in street - was about £540-550 (Guaranteed bonus) with remap. Quote was based on a mileage of 8k a year with business use.

More surprising without remap was about £150 less - but its not going back to standard..

Mines an X reg - but it's in getting the front bumper repaired and painted after a run in with a speed hump just off Battersea Rise.

Thats the one - hope you've not done the same.

Turned right, and not in any real hurry either, but scraped the nose when the suspension bottomed out.
