Here we go..

Here is a post exploring the relative merits of these two fine tuners

If it was my money I'd go MRC but mine came with an MTM map and I am VERY happy 8) as are numerous MRC punters with their maps.

I am pretty sure MRC are a little bit cheaper but I could be wrong.

Is MTM generic and MRC custom?

Ive no experience of MTM so cant comment there. But i have had a custom MRC remap done on my S3. The difference was amazing, but reassuringly they give the car a good look over, checking fault codes etc before going out for a run. Doug came out and plugged his laptop in while we took a few runs around the local carriage way. Then its back to the garage while a bit of digital tinkering is done, then back to the road for some on the fly fine tuning. You can feel the difference on every run, until they are happy its as good as can be. I travelled down from York for my remap, a 5.30 am start if i remember correctly! i dont think i stopped grinning the entire way home!
Hope this helps.

Where abouts in the country are you as that may make a difference?

My money is with MRC and can certainly vouch for a very profesional and reliable job, but can't comment on MTM as i don't know of anyone with one fitted.

I am guessing the RS4 that passed you may of had lowered suspension hence why the exhaust was so low to the ground.

sounds like his rear silencer box maybe sagging.

Our rear bracket had sheared off so it does jhang down a wee bit.

25 quid for a weld soon sorted that out instead of a new backbox which is what Audi quoted.

I drove down to Acton the other day, I've never seen speed bumps quite like it. They were evil.

TBH, I suspect the majority of owners with Milltek's will tell you that clearance is not brilliant.

BTW, I have an MRC custom remap, Milltek resonated cat-back and gutted pre-cats and I'd recommend it. Can't say a good or bad word about mtm as I have no experience.

short shift and H&R Anti Roll Bars (with stock suspension) are a good start

My car came with an MTM remap, but having had the precats gutted I opted for the custom one by MRC.

The MTM one is generic wheras MRC can provide either a generic or a custom remap option.

So your sig isn't right these days then... MTM stage1 is just a map isn't it?

Did you notice much difference after the map and precat removal?

Yeah Mark, the sig is wrong...will correct!!

After precats removed, car is slightly noisier, as for better performance...probably marginally better. Never did any before and after tests as the car was MRC'd whilst I was on holiday so was two weeks between one map and the other so it was difficult to tell. But this way, with other mods (if I go Milltek etc) then the map can be easily redone to make the most of the changes.

I think custom tune is the most important part. not many offer that :)

Oh man!

So few people are in the position to truely compare, contrast and comment between two maps, especially two much discussed maps such as MTM and MRC and you "Never did any before and after tests as the car was MRC'd whilst I was on holiday so was two weeks between one map and the other so it was difficult to tell".

Shame on on you!
