Ebay Short Shifter

Any one tried one of these in an RS4? Is there any difference between the S4 and RS4 gear linkages as I know these work on the S4's

Got one fitted to my RS4 and all is fine but order the one from hong kong on ebay its around £20 all in and the same item.

I have that shifter in S4, but those are the same in RS4 also. The stick is quite short, but it is working ok and I have nothing to complain about it. For that price it is very good.

I had one on my S4. Worked ok. ShineyDave does a mod to existing gear linkage to reduce the throw and it cost nowt!

Hmmmm, I'm reluctant to mod the original stuff as i may well want to return car to stock if i ever sell it... Plus, fingers crossed when santa delivers said item on xmas morning, it won't have cost me anything anyway! Plus it's a good excuse to get out of the way of relatives and go and install stuff in the car! Thanks for the info though!

You'd best keep all the parts that come off then (and make a quick sketch of how it all goes back together before you start), as the short-shifter mod involves removing most of the original parts.

If your fitting on a preface lift, it can be amusing due to the restriction of space. It can be done but just take some time and do it right and try not to drop anything!

Also look for the Audiworld how to guide on the fitting of a toyguy short shifter and the setting up of said item which can save hours of adjusting and fiddeling.

Look for details or search for 'tanoga' short shifter.
He was an original B5 owner, and made / sold these kits. They aint cheap but are machined from billet, and are imo better quality than the original parts.
The ones shown in the first link above look to be quite cheaply made. I guess you get what you pay for.
The Tanoga kit is a swap in/out replacrment, and takes maybe an hour or so to swap over.

Helps greatly danke, have you got one fitted to yours John? - I'm not in a hurry to spend £250 on a Tangoa shifter though that's for sure.

If you have one fitted I'd be insterested to 'feel' ooo eeer what it's like in comparison to the throw of the standard one which I quite like over my EIP short shifter in the R32 - but that probably has something to do with the padle clutch being a nightmare to drive.
