help

Post by 15ajh » Mon Oct 29, 2007 12:00 pm

hi

looking at changing my 02 reg S3 for an rs4, been offered one locally an x plate with 50k and 3owners, also like the S4 avant(B6).

But for some reason can't seem to get past the fact that i'm changing my cuurent car for an older car wondered if anyone else had been in this situation?

I enjoy the drive in the rs4, feels like the s3 but with more power, the s4 feels like a big car with power but not the same driving dynamics that i' use to.

Any suggestions????

thanks
alan

I went from a 2003 911 Carrera 'back' to a 2002 RS4.
No regrets, as the RS4 is noticeably more powerful whilst also being conspicous, rather than my 996 with the full aero-kit, which attracted too much attention for my liking. The RS4 is nowhere as engaging a drive as the 911 was, but for the amount of time I get to play these days, the RS4 gives me the fix I like.

Just put some money aside, as these cars are not cheap to run and maintain.

I've been driving a 2004 A3 3.2 q S-line, half the age of my RS4.
Thought I'd maybe not feel the same about my RS4 after the A3 as I hadn't driven it for 2 weeks but got back in it at the weekend, took it out on a drive from Bham to Leominster area and was back in love. A3 isn't missed.
The Porsche 993 is worth loads more than 996 yet looks and feels way older - need I say more? :)

You may be buying an older car, but look at the car not the age of it!

At the time of buying my previous S4, I had the option of the S4 or a newer S3...and obviously went for the older S4 (and then to the RS4).

No doubts about such a change

I owned S3 done by ABT and improved by my friends from VTG and must admit it was very nice car, much nicer than brand new Subaru STI (powered by Prodrive) I owned as a next one. In that case it wasn't perfect choice :?
So, I changed STI to 2001 RS4 and I love this car :P. I know that it's 6 years old, has almost 60.000 of mileage but it's still in mint condition, much more powerful than 99% of cars you can meet driving and because of the feeling of unique (only 6046 units built).

If you can and you can afford it (remember you have to maintain it) - just do it :!:

Had the same thoughts when I bought my RS4, although there is only 13 months difference - Dec 2000 compared to March '02.

I think the familiarity with the S3 persuaded me that the RS4 was the best option - I had also been looking at B6/B7 S4's, RS6's and an M5.

The S3 has now become our second car, rather than trading-in, and although its still a great car I will nearly always pick up the keys to the RS4.

The RS just feels that bit more special, more comfortable, better seating position, damn sight quicker...and a puts a much bigger grin on my face.

I now have the 'problem' of not wanting to part with the RS4, as I don't really know if there is anything that could really replace it. Now looking at further upgrades.
