hello guys

this is my first post here since ive had the car. usually im just checking out the board, but this time i have real questions. Well as of march i picked up my 01 red rs4. a few mods here and there but the real problem is trying to find parts for a car that doesnt excist in america.

im really wondering what exhaust you guys are running. since my car before this was a s4, so i took the parts and switched them over. the cars running Dahlback Dps and autospeed exhaust. sounds good but now on this car it resinates alot. the dps are 3 in and the exhaust is 2.25. so wondering what exhaust you guys have and does it resinate? im keeping the dps but deffinatly looking for more flow from the exhaust.

cheers

I think the Miltek systems have this problem around 2.5k rpm. But also heard that the newer/later items have been re-desgined to combat this.

I run a Supersprint system, and probably the only one on here with this! I chose it due to using their products in the past and being overwhelmed by them. And again haven't been dissapointed.

Above all there is no resonance as people have been complaining with the Miltek.

Slightly louder than the stock item, and only comes alive when booted. I'm over the moon with it, and gives soul to the V6/RS4.

Supersprint also do the d/p's, but have yet to get these. I have heard that the d/p's make the car quite louder.

I'm using the oem exhaust, although the pre-cats are gutted. Recorded a puny 78dB at Castle Combe at the weekend.

TBH I can't see the point of shelling out over £2000 for a Milltek with cats until my oem exhaust gives up the ghost. Bu then again, I am a tight git.

Well this is the reason why I haven't done the cats yet as they are around £1.5k

And I only did the exhaust to get a better sound.......the original sounds too muted for my liking!

I suppose it really depends on what you are after..

If it's more power - then the exhaust needs to be less restrictive - which usually means more noise from the back end..

I run a full de-cat Milltek system, it helps provide much more power and lets the engine rev freely, and only tips the noise meter at about 95db's at 4500rpm.

I would go for the Milltek if you want extra performance, or stay with what you have if you want the quite life.

Regards,

R.

You might be waiting some time Paul, when my original one came off a few weeks back I was stunned at how good a nick it was in.

Haven't heard a Milltek myself, so can't comment.

But I love the sound it makes. It's not loud at all in my books, and as mentioned before only comes alive when booted. It's certainly has more sound at idle, something which the stock exhaust lacks IMO.

All I can say is that's it's a cross between the warble of a 5 cylinder Quattro engine, and Golf R32. The best I can describe it!

MTM manifolds
Miltek Down pipes
Miltek sports cats
Miltek full system

I sell lots of Supersprints and they are the nuts 8)
I have also done some Scorpion systems, but they don't do the DP's

Out of curiosity; how come you don't use the Supersprint on your car then?

Garrett GT28RS
Custom DPs
de-katted
Supersprint exhaust

I drive now with Supersprint cat back and i love the sound of it, but when i drive on freeway it feels like i have to wear ear protection. It´s way too loud on road speeds. As said there before, DPs can make it a bit more noisy.
Soon i´ll run with Milltek cat back. All previous experiences with Milltek are good, so.....

The DP's must be making the difference as mine with Supersprint sounds absolutely perfect whether on town roads, or out on the motorway.

Just to get this staight before I take the plunge, do the downpipes remove the pre-cats??

I run with new K04s and OEM DPs with gutted pre-cats, and my car sounds really nice and not loud at all, as it was before. I still do have Supersprint exhaust. Changing the turbos and DPs made it quite quiet again. 8)
Remapping next week.
