Oil Level

Post by shaky » Thu Aug 30, 2007 6:37 pm

Bit of an obscure plebby question, but how is the correct way to check the oil level on these cars?

Finally did my oil change yesterday, all went ok and in went 6 ish litres. Ran it up and checked the level and it's reading half way between min and max.

Checked it when cold this morning and it's above the max slightly, obviously all oil drained into sump etc, so the question is do you all check it when warm, i.e. operating temp and left for a few mins in which case it needs slightly more or is it correct when cold??

Thanks all

Check it when it is warm. You are spot on, it should be between the min and max

Check it after 20-30 minutes from the moment you switched off the engine (follow the user's guide).
Good luck.

I need a longer dipstick. Mine does not reach the oil any more. Where can I get one?
