Parrot Bluetooth Advice please

Post by Contigo » Mon Aug 13, 2007 8:40 pm

Hi All

My car has the Parrot Bluetooth Kit fitted, it has a small userpad next to the steering wheel with the green answer key and red hang up key. Also there is a speaker mounted in the passenger footwell and a mic near the sunroof controls.

All works well apart from the volume on some calls. Sometime it's too loud and sometimes when at speed on the motorway you really have to struggle to hear the caller. I have tried adjusting the volume on the Radio (When the phone is in use the symhony radio displays TELEFON) but it does nothing.

Is there a volume adjustment?

I have the same setup as you, and found increasing the volume level on the telephone handset when its paired increases the incoming call volume.

You have the BOSE stereo right? Who made (and fitted) your attenuation cable? (I think that's the correct term for the cable that mutes and then sends the kit feed to the amp)

I recall being told by the first TWO professionals I approached that this car kit (ck3100) wouldn't work with a BOSE stereo (as in mute music and allow phone feed through stereo) Then I went to a *proper* place and they make their own cables form scratch - job done - got parrot kits in both cars (both with BOSE's) and no issues at all

I suspect the problem lies with this link

It does work with bose in that it says TELEFON but the sound is routed through a seperate speaker.

And tried the handset volume and on the SPV phone it doesn't alter the volume of the speaker.

Get yourself on ebay, you can buy a bose adapter kit for £6 they retail at a ridiculous £80,the kit is for a nokia but £5 buys you an adapter to the parrot,or do a bit re wiring for free like i did, much better running through bose,I did this because of the problems your having ie through a single speaker under the dash it was a bit hard to hear on occasions

What I did was replace the small under dash speaker that are with the kits for one of the old type bigger speakers, much better sound from it.

Would be much better through the stereo, surely it should have been through there in the first place?

By getting it to 'work' with the BOSE that's what I meant - as in mute stereo and then run through stereo itself - I have no idea about under the dash speakers(???Didnt even know there was one there and it sounds like a poor substitute by comparison - for me - if it's in there, it has to work *properly*)

The point being - it's the cable that is the issue that prevents this from working PROPERLY - you either need to have a custom cable made up (by a pro. or make one yourself, if you're adept at such things) or if there is an effective/useable option already available on ebay or the likes, even better.

If there is a viable plug-and-play solution available (on ebay etc) if you get a chance please let me know - be very interested (might save me a load of cash in the future!)

I know, it defo sounds like it was a shoddy install from the start. The speaker cannot be heard when on mway and there is noadjust volume via the phones handset etc...

so I need to move it to through the actual stereo. It's weird that the unit actually comes on with TELEFON isn't it if there is no connection to the head unit? I don't know alot about how GSM phones work through a headunit as such so can't really comment myself.

I will have a look for a cable and failing that take it to a specialist audio installer.

Thanks

Phil

That is pretty odd - if you say there is NO connection to the head - spooky I'd say!

I *think* mine says 'PHONE' on the display - I'll have to check - I never look TBH, just what I seem to recall

Well for some reason the Stereo Mutes when the phone rings. It shouldn't need to if the phone has a seperate speaker so it must have a connection to the head unit somewhere along the line. It definitely displays TELEFON when the phone is in use.

It should mute the radio, via the mute connection lead from the BT kit, whenever a call is in process.

As I understand it, its the actual audio output thats the issue, due to the integration of the BOSE amplification, which the Parrot kit cannot handle natively.
