Hi,
Have the following fault codes when driving the car hard - can anyone shed any light for me?
Car has just been serviced with new plugs.
16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0300 - 35-00 - -
16688 - Cylinder 4: Misfire Detected
P0304 - 35-00 - -
Coil packs maybe? Where is cylinder 4?
Cheers
Matt

How did you get those codes, i.e. have you got VAG-COM?
You could try resetting the DTC codes, and then measuring the blocks 14+15 to see at what revs the misfires occur.....alternatively give MRC a call, and ask Doug or Minhea what can cause this, however from memory it could be either of the following......
a) Coil pack
b) Spark plug
c) Defective Injector
d) Crack in cyclinder head
e) Worn camshaft lobe\follower
Mines was option e

Although my car appeared to be running ok, when getting a MRC re-map they did a health check and found a random missfire. It just turned out to be loose plugs on both centre cylinders. A common fault according to Doug, by dealers who don't tighten them properly. Where did you get the car serviced? It may be just that simple!!!

I had exactly the set of faults (on cylinder 6 though) .... cured by Doug (of course). Great expense...he tightened the spark plugs!
My suggestion is to go round all 6 plugs and re-tighten them, clear the fault codes and then drive the car for a while and re-test with Vag-com.

I'm guessing that sah has recently had cam issues and he's seen this vag code from this here thread and thinks it's the same.
