It's been done in the US in S4's so I see no reason why it would not fit the RS4.

Olly from Audi-sport had one fitted to his B5 RS4, when he was selling it i found out it cost, with Airbag somewhere in the region of £1400! Just too much wonga for a wheel, go aftermarket!

Anyone know if the steering wheel controls will work on a B5 ?

I'dbe interested to know that too.

I take it that's a B7 Gear knob? Nice.

Physically it fits, same spline etc. However, the airbag module wiring is different. The connectors are different, but it wouldn't take a genius to figure out the wiring and get it to work. Same for the horn, not sure about the extra buttons.

Its definately worth doing, the B7 wheel is much more comfortable and thicker to hold.

Here's mine:

Olly,

Looks really good. Is the cost really £1,400?

the buttons wont do anything, but if there is room behind the airbag you might be able to fit the mfsw controller from a butchered 4-spoke a4 b5 wheel
this could possibly be wired up to use the 4 buttons available - say vol up and down and previous/next track

yeah, it was a while ago. 1400 for the airbag module and steering wheel itself. Direct from Audi Germany as no dealer local to me had one in stock.

I'm sure the extrta buttons could be wired to do vol up/down etc, but never really had the time and now it's sold its not a problem.

Problem with the RS4 is that the punched leather wheel feels thin and puny, the alcantara one is slightly fatter but not by much, so this was the only real choice for me as I didnt wanna go aftermarket !

So did you actually get the airbag to connect properly? I understood it to be an issue with the B5 version having a single fire airbag whereas the B7 was dual fire?

If there was no horn, this wouldn't pass a UK MOT. Not sure if having no air-bag would be a fail also. Drove a new RS4 yesterday and the B7 wheel really is much nicer to use and hold.
