Suspension?
Suspension?
Anyone got any good advice on suspension and when it is likely it will be necessary to change it. Mine is Nogano RS4 - 45,000 miles. Thanks.
I,m no expert on this matter however there are several people on here who have dabbled with several set ups with varying degrees of success...
As this is a topic i keep a close eye on i will say that changing the ARB's seem to be a popular and worthwhile upgrade which seems to sort out most peoples probs.
Again from personal experience and after fitting this kit to 3 of my last cars i've always found the Bilstein PSS kits sort out any issues i,ve ever had in the corners or under hard braking !
Probably not much help but have a good look back thro some of the last posts to get a feel for what works for some and not for others !
Some more helpful advice will be along soon !

I'm interested in what peoples experiences have been as I'm about to upgrade mine also.
So far (from advice already received) I'm thinking - H+R anti-roll bars, to keep it flat in the turns plus changing the dampers for the firmer,Koni's for better stability, particularly under heavy braking
The reason I don't want to go the Bilstein route (slightly lower springs) is I dont want to have the car any lower than it already is (I'm nervous enough over speed bumps having touched the underside once already!)

Suspension
I have the full H&R setting: dampers+ springs+ anti roll bars. They are adjustable. It is a great improvement, the car behave much better in tight corners, under hard breaking, gear changes as well.
For everyday it is fine, it is not to hard at all. Obviously on very poor road surface it is like every proper sport car......
The down side is at high speed it is a little bit jumpy when you go over tiny bumps, but you get use to it very quickly.

RE: Suspension
My advice would be to fit the stiffer ARB's first - see how you go over a month or so and if you still want to firm things up more then go for alternative dampers/springs. personally I actually find the H&R coilovers a bit harsh for everyday use, but have got used to them. The car needed new shocks anyway so thought the coilovers would be the route to go. I prefer a slightly softer ride, but then I'm an old git so that explains it!
I wouldn't have throught that the dampers on a 45,000 mile old car would "need" replacing (unless they are leaking or have another fault)

If you dont "do it now" you never will.

RE: Suspension
Mine has done 45k and is still on its original dampers. Just had its MOT and they were fine. I have avoided the full blown H&R set up with he coilovers because I didn't want too hard a ride. Its already pretty stiff. I have the ARB's and Powerflex bushes and even that can be firm at times, although it is nice on the track or when pushing on hard on 'private roads'

RE: Suspension
I had all mine replaced recently at 69k miles. I was surprised at the difference new shoxs and springs made to the car as it had always felt quite composed. Slight leak of oil on front shox prompted change. The car is now a different animal albeit on standard suspension.
