Full Size Spare

I picked up a brand new Eagle F1 255 35 18 at a bargain price the other day. I'm thinking of getting a wheel and using it as a full size spare. I tried it in the spare wheel well in the boot today and it didn't fit straight in, and not because it protruded above the well, but it caught on the plastic boot threshold trim.

I am sure that there are plenty of RS4 owners on here who carry the full size spare. Does this bit of trim need trimming? Picture below kind of shows the issue.

I took off the trim and run without rather than mutilate it.

Jarv, I cut the trim on mine. There is a photo of it somewhere on this forum ... all very exciting - a photo of a bit of plastic trim with a bit cut out! Hey you could use your dremel to sort it!

Cheers guys. I still don't own a Dremel. But I do still have the one I borrowed off a mate last year.

I think I'll wait to get hold of the wheel before I do any cutting.

you can squeeze them in , mine goes in with trim left in place and doesn't seem to be a problem

Surely you must have a smaller tyre there. You using a 255 35 18? Where did you get the insert for the took kit? I guess VAGParts will sell me one.

its a standard mitchelin pilot sport @ 255 35 18. , the car was like this when i bought it and until another member told me otherwise i thought they came as standard. vagparts or dealers would have the holder thingy , the part numbers are

Mine is exactly the same, however my wheel is an RS6 design. The tyre is 255/35/18.
No trim, removal just slightly raised floor mat.

its slightly higher at the back but with the cover down you can't tell so i'm happy just to leave it like that.

That's strange, I can't get the tyre in on it's own without the wheel. Maybe it's one of those things, when it get's inflated it changes shape so it does fit. Where's Dr Al when you need him?

Odd...not only did I have to cut the plastic trim, but also the tyre/wheel protrudes above the level of the boot.
