RS6 front brakes onto RS4 B5

Hi all.

Nearly ran out of road the other day. I've been advised to fit some RS6 front disks and callipers. Whats the best way to go about it?

My local audi specialist said that it can be done but he will need to look into it. Any idea's on costs or a point in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Only had it a week and already thinking 'big'. Missus thinks i'm nuts.

Cheers

Owen.

RS6 Callipers and B7 RS4 Drilled Discs are a good combo. Seen them on a 2001 RS4 Absolutly Massive and loads of stoping power :D

RS6 Calipers & pads on std RS4 discs are also excellent, then upgrade to B7 RS4 discs when you need to.

If you're handy with a spanner, then get them from dsgwagen via ebay (mention RS246 and he will give you a discount!).

If you don't fancy getting your hands dirty, then MRC will sort you out!

Is that what you've done Nige? I'm thinking the same as a first step... Well, second step, running standard B5 RS4 at the moment

I am about to do the very same mod.

APS is Brackley do the whole kit for £1400 + VAT & fitting (2-3 hrs), AmD do their Monster kit for around £1700, VAGPARTS do the RS6 kit for £1280 + VAT. I went to my local main Audi stealer and they wanted, get this, £450 per caliper, plus £206 for RS6 pads, plus £360 per front disc!! Madness, nearly £1900 for the same parts as the specialists.

I am having standard rear discs fitted but will upgrade to the RS6 front. Not sure where to buy yet though. I have seen on ebay front B7 RS4 discs for £474 per pair, so this makes it more cost effective. I also saw both RS6 calipers on the German ebay site for £700.

Don't forget the RS6 brake pipes if you don't fancy bending the stock RS4 flexi pipes.

I went for the full Brembo RS6 8 pots with RS4 B7 floating vented cross drilled discs. Absolutely fantastic.

I too was considering a halfway house measure of just bolting the new calipers onto my existing B5 discs. It would have worked, but as the discs are smaller there would have been a small amount of the pad running off the discs, which would have meant that, when I upgraded the discs I would have needed a new set of pads as well, so I considered it false economy.

Just been reading some posts about fitting VW Phaeton ducts at the front. How easy is this to do and does it make that much of a difference wit the RS6 set-up?

Does that price include fitting Doug?
