Just thought people might be interested that I got cover at Diamond/Platimum whatever level for £650 including dealer rates and up to purchase price of the car. Car is X reg.

I am looking at the small print - anything I should be aware of in my 14 days of grace? Why is it so reasonable?

THanks

Robert.

Sounds like a good deal to me - when I was looking it was about the same sort of money for Warranty Direct, but at the time they had a maximum limit per claim of £4k. I decided not to go with them in the end because a new set of turbos or gearbox replacement would probably exceed that value, let alone if something major failed in the engine....

From memory, they provide a list of covered items (which seems quite extensive) but anything not specifically mentioned is not covered. (oil seal failures is one that springs to mind)

I ended up going with a RAC Gold Warranty, which was only about £350, and although it doesn't cover main dealer rates, the limit per claim is the purchase price of the car, and pretty much everything is covered (there is a small list of exclusions, all of which seemed reasonable)

Cheers,

Paul

My experience of Warranty Direct is not good. They claim everything is wear and tear. I had to fight 'tooth and nail' to get 50% when my propshaft bearing failed despite it been a specified item in the policy. An Audi warranty would have covered this. I asked them !

Can you let me have the RAC contact info please - I went on the RAC web site and after finding the only similar section the link to a separate site is broken!

thanks in advance

Robert.

Hi Robert,

You should be able to access it on www.racwarranty.com but that doesn't seem to be working at the moment, so try this: www.rac.co.uk/business/warranties/ There are contact numbers etc. on there.

Cheers,

Paul.

RAC Cover now become AA Cover

Would you beleive that the RAC do not provide it any more and that it is now the AA cover! No loyalty there.

The price is more than you quote and as my car is JUST over 6 years old I cannot have your level of cover. Is it true yours was less than 6 when you got the cover?

Also you should read the small print as the lady was clear it was the CURRENT retail price for claims not the original or purchase price.

Back to Warranty Direct I guess...

Robert.

Hmm - I didn't know that! I took out the policy last March, so the car was 5 years old. Current retail price is fine by me as it still means around £20k.

I'd be interested to know how you get on as it looks like I will have to find a new warranty provider come March :(
