max power on std turbos?

Post by DamoM » Tue Nov 28, 2006 2:51 pm

My car is ready for the remap with MRC and I expect to be with them with a fortnight.

I have a DUH FMIC, fully decatted downpipes and a full miltek. These mods have made the car feel so much more responsive and the power has also taken a noticable hike. I just love the drivability of the RS4 and that is the decision why I have left the turbos as std, I know form my other turbo cars (incl RS2) that even with the full boost coming in at 3000 this makes a car feel so much more laggy.

Anyway, I am hoping for 500 bhp...does anyone know what these cars can do on the std turbos?

Probably around that figure with the mods you have.

As far as I know, there is not much else you can do to improve things much further.

I am sure someone will correct me of I am wrong.

I would say close to 500 if not 500 spot on. Depends on your luck if you have a good engine or not, some seem to want to produce significantly less than some others, but that's the way it works for all cars. Hopefully the noggy will get around the 500 figure and you definitely won't lose any of the driveability, that's for sure.

Have to say I always thought 480 was about the max out of standard turbos reliably, hence the big price hike on over 480 conversions. Looking back through some of the early big horsepower conversions, all had hybrid or adapted turbos.

Awesome pics. Like what they have done to replace the TBB on the RS4 setup. Does the water injector (or whatever it is) come as standard?

Well I came back today from the mapping session with MRC and the car is transformed.

Unfortunately dues to circumstances beyond my control I couldn't get Optimax in the car (or whatever it is called!) and so we ran with 97 RON Tesco which Mihnea said was ok.

The car was peaking at 1.5 bar and holding 1.3 at redline and the kick in the back was stunning.

I knew things were good when I got all 4 wheels spinning under sheer power on the foggy drive home.....

Needless to say, they did a wonderful job again and are nice guys to boot!!
