lost radio signal

Post by rocketron » Wed Oct 11, 2006 5:15 pm

My radio signal has become increasingly poor and intermittent anyone got any advice. I seem to remember there is an aerial repair kit you can get.

Thanks in advance

Check the diversity receiver in the boot (near the CD player) The aerial connections can become detached from the circuit board inside. Think this costs about £80 for a new unit, or if you are any good with a soldering iron, you could fix it yourself!

Or you may unlucky and have some water getting in, my car did this a few years ago, first I lost the radio then the CD packed up, when garage opened up the side pod, everything was wet...traced to a faulty seal on the left hand rear mounting of roof rail, running down inside of rear pillar..........luckily for me it was all covered under Audi warrentee

It's unlikely to be one of the aerial cables itself, but it is quite common for one of the terminals to come loose inside the unit. Mine did, but that was because I was a bit careless when I was removing the TV tuner to connect a DVD player, and caught the aerial leads on the trim panel! Anyway, a little bit of soldering and it's been as good as new ever since.
