AP Racing solve the Movit front disc issues.

Post by flashyg » Sun Sep 10, 2006 10:28 pm

Not yet in production but watch this space.
These discs are in testing.
36mm x 378 , as fitted to Aston Vanquish.
These discs are on the awesome fully floating strap drive bells.
Massive improvements are obvious from first appearances. Absolutely no judder or rattle, just silky smooth running. My movit front discs were simply not able to handle the hear and they disintegrated after a few thousand miles. These new discs have been designed to overcome the issues of the movit disc. The same disc casting is used for the M5 e60 Ap upgrade. These discs come from the company how made brake pars for the Bugatti Veron, Maclaren , Jag F1, Touring cars etc.

I have gone to exceptional effort to get my breaks to cope with the power of the 6 piston calipers, finally I feel I have got there.

Product not yet available.
Will let you know when testing is complete. G

I have had no end of problems with the "fixed bell" AP setup (judder) Will this cure all my judder problems and can I use it with my AP calipers?
I was going to make an appointment with Pete Collins at AP on m next trip back to England but it seems I only need to book it in for the replacement discs

Ken sorry for your issues. Its is not a solution for issues with fixed Ap setup.
The diameter of the disc is bigger 378 the thickness is not lightly to be an issue but the offset is different If you could get different brackets this would be a solution. Pete may offer to make up brackets. G

On a different note, They did do a superb brake set up for Spinney aka rs4john , try to get his discs, I reckon this will sort the wobble.

I know how annoying it can be, thankfully this new disc is the business. Hope you get it sorted.

Ken,

PhilT still has the same issue as yourself with the fixed AP's....might be worth getting together and contacting AP to see what they can do ?

Could well be that a set of floating discs could cure your problem though...

I have had AP strap discs on my RS4 for over a year. And great discs they are too, especially with new cooling ducts.

What size are they, and with what AP caliper?

I have been struggling with the Movits for over a year now. There is no doubt i will be looking to get a set of these AP floating disks.

How many people are actually running the Movit 6 pot kit?

Lovely pics Thanks H.

Rs4ever, great sig, Nice of you to share your thoughts. I personally cannot believe the improvements these discs have made. To surmise my car finally feels as refined as it did just before the wobbling cracking super duper moved discs that have no guarantee that only crack rattle and bang (then snap crackle and pop) if you drive to slowly to fast stop to quick or stop to slow. Ap4ever is my new name.

So who else has the Movit 6's?

I do not mind "flashing the cash" for the floaters IF that cures the problem. What I need is a guarantee that they will work properly which is why I want AP to fit them and test them. By the way sorry for the typo Pete.
Think I will have to let Simon loose in my car next week at Sliverstone. Do we know if spindat still has his AP's hiding in the darkest depths of his garage?
