OIL and Oil Filter questions for RS4

Hello, I'm changing the oil from my RS4 and the Audi Dealer told me that the OIL FILTER for the RS4 is the same one found on the old A3. Is that correct??? Should I buy from the dealer or should I use one from MANN or MAHLE?

I still haven't decided which oil shoud I use:

MOBIL 1 - 0w40
or
MOTUL 8100 5w40
or
MOTUL 300V Competition 5W30

Any recomendations? I do live in BRAZIL where our temperatures are around 30 degrees celcius, and it can get very hot. Lowest temperature is 5 degrees celcius but very rare to happen. (Cold Nights at the Mountain)

Thanks in advance for all the help! :D

Mobil 1 Rally Formula 5W-50
This is the best in my opinion! Never had any oil pressure or oil temp problems on a 500hp rs4. Not even on heavy trackdays !

Hi chaps
I have been recommended the audi/vw semi synthetic synta oil for my Rs4 by Ben Williamson of Sportstech, the reason why this is recommended is that mobil 1 and synthetics in general are too thin an oil with less viscosity and can and will cause premature turbo seal/bearing wear and damage/failure,i did question this and he said the factory in germany recommend semi synthetic, also ben was the RS master technition at Derby audi and now runs Sportstech at Ilkeston and is the technical editor at Audi driver magazine so probably knows his stuff.

Definately got to be fully synthetic all the way..... read Simon's tech report on this forum. He explains it all very well.

As major engine wear takes place in the milli seconds after you start an engine, I would suggest a 'thicker' cold viscosity oil... any oil with a 0 at the start is not going to give a great deal of protection at this point...

oh i have some in the garage i was going to put some in when i get the car on the road, its useful to know they produce thinner than the actual standard

If I remember well, the reason why they introduced such oil is especially because of "these important milli seconds" as it can go quicker in these critical place than a thicker one when you just started the engine while the engine is cold.

I lived in Mexico and I believe we have the same temp. as you do in Brazil, and I used Mobil 1 5w-50 and never have a problem. The temp sometimes goes to 35 °c and no problems whatsoever, great oil.
Right now I´m thinking of changing the Mobil 1 for MOTUL LEMANS 15W -60 for greater protection for high temp, but I´m still thinking about it.

I use the Mobil 1 5w-50 as well with no probs and it gets hot down under. The 50 means that it will maintain viscosity at higher temperatures and the 5w is still good for below 0.

I don't really think you can say it is a particularly thin oil, just that it does not get gluggy at freezing temperatures, ie., it maintains its thinness/viscosity.

On the other had when it gets really hot it will not thin out like a 30 grade oil, but maintain its viscocity like a 50 grade oil.
