In need of a new battery - anyone fitted a lightweight one?

I can only find the Optima Redtop series and they only go to 50Ah (but have impressive cranking values), plus they are at least 13kg lighter than a std Bosch 80ah battery.
Thoughts?

sure if it has enough cranking amps and is not too expensive then go for it m8, you never know you could then own the first lightweight RS4

Nige,
I would say go for it as long as it fits in the tray and you aren't in the habit of sitting in the car for ages with the radio and lights etc... on as this is the only real reason for a big battery.
Let's face it the RS4 has a massive alternator which will recharge the battery in no time, so as long as you have enough current there to crank it over you'll be fine.
Plus I dare say you won't find a better quality battery than an ultima.
You could always get a (say) 40ah one for general running and then a smaller (say) 20ah which you charge through a diode (big one) and a knife switch to engage the battery for discharge when required, that way you'd never have a flat battery - something even a single 100Ah batery couldn't offer!

I have installed Odyssey PC1200T drycell battery to my RS4, it fits perfectly and gives more stable voltage!
