Which model am i?

I was organising the detachable tow bar and the guy askes me which type am I? He says there's two types 96 - May 2001 and June 2001 - 2004.
I would have thought that i was the earlier one, but the car was registered 18/05/01. Is the B7 model from 06/01 - 2004??
Here is a pic of the car, sorry for the stupidity but as the car is right on the timeline i thought i should ask the people in the know as i don't want to order the wrong tow bar

B5 all the way...................... The B7 was launched in 2006!!

no pic but you definitely wont be a B7 as thats the platform code for the new RS4. You a B5 my man with only a 2 year production window fron 2000 X plate iirc

i know it's a B5, but the guy wants to know if it is 1996 - May 2001 or May 2001 - 2004?
I think i'm the earlier one, what do you reckon?

Best colour to boot..... The B5 was limited to 400 right hand drive cars manufactured from 2000 - 2001/2

hmm sorry mate don't know the cut off poin ref dates but surely will be in the docs with the car @ the dealers no?

The very last registered B5 RS4 was early 2002 (and it's mine)

Ok lads i'm a slow learner, which of the 2 production dates am i? I would think i'm the earlier one as it was first registered 18th may 2001

Alan your car would have been produced sometime after 2000 and before the registration date 18 may 2001 as it would have been registered in the UK after shipping from the motherland so yeh I'd tink you fall into the earlier category.

you sure he's not talking about an S4? he's not confused is he? a B5 S4 would have build dates of '96 to 2001

Or maybe the dealer guy has got it wrong - wouldn't be a first.

ahh thats where he it getting the models mixed up, you see i'm getting one for a S4 as it fits the car. So which shape would i be if the car was an S4, i presume it would still be the earlier one??
Dave cheers for kicking my brain into gear, forgot to say i was ordering a S4 tow bar, a lad i know over in Ireland fitted a S4 tow bar to his old RS4 and said it was a straight fit.
So am i the earlier S4 model??
