Battery Charger

Post by Yan » Sat May 20, 2006 3:54 pm

Can anyone give me advice on charging a battery? I am storing my RS4 for the next 3.5 months and need to know if the battery is likely to hold its charge for this period or should I connect a trickle charger? Also what are the implications if it were to go flat?

Thanks.

Witha new battery fitted, my car sat in the garage for nearly four months over the winter and started first time............ A few weeks later it was totally flat......... use a small trickle charger, I have one which is part of the carcoon transformer.... seems to work well!

If it goes flat you'll need to know your radio code. If you don't have it you might have to pay your stealer to source it via taking the car into them and they have to plug in and send off to Germany for details. This is a new-ish process. It used to be possible to get the radio code from your parts/service guys. Not anymore unless you are lucky and the orginal selling dealer still has the car's details on their system. That's what I discovered for a US guy. He was lucky and the orginal stealer had his car's details. This of course is providing the radio hasn't been replaced since new!

I'd consider a decent quality trickle charger. My mate uses them all the time for his bike. Now no longer has any probs with flat batteries.
