Can anyone advise where to place a trolley jack to jack up the car. I know where the scissor jack goes, but those sills will bend if a trolley jack is placed there.

Try the suspension mounting points on the subframes........... and try and use a rubber pad ontop of the jack. Saves ripping the frig out of the underseal

good point Si, if you aint got no rubber , a bit of wood should ease the strain a bit.

fair play though, steel jack on steel car is always a recipe for disaster, even a dustsheet rolled up is better than nothing.

My tyre guy cuts squares out of old tyres and uses them to protect the underseal. Has given me a couple, and they work a treat. There is a special block that can be purchased that enables jacking on the seam, but a waste of money IMHO.

A bit a thick cardboard folded over on itself will do aswell. Try to avoid using the jack that is supplied in the boot, mine failed pretty dramatically on me when changing pads one day....emergency use only!!

Are those the sort of dome shaped things ?

Will have a look in the morning.... from memory the rear of the front subframe does have a bulge in it.......

good question, always hard to know where the best place is to mount the trolley jack... would be good if someone could post some pics.

Yeah - it's a real pain to jack these cars. You have to be very carefull. I've made a block of wood up for distributing the load along the sill adjacent to the jacking points.

You have to be carefull as there is a fuel hose running right by the drivers side sill. (Right hand drive cars)

I've avoided using the "domed" section which has been replaced by my drive train stabiliser (DTS) as I didn't see a section of chassis and thought this could be too weak to take the load of the car.

I also have to run my car up a couple of thick planks to gain greater ground clearance to get the jack under the front.

Watch your tyre dealers as these buggers are notorious for jacking up the floor!!
