470ish to 550ish - my options are?

Currently done "the usual" 100cell cats, Milltek back box, Movits, H&R PCS and a lovely MRC remap - car is great :-)

But trip to Vmax today (and a crazy idea I have to get 1000bhp between the RS4 and the TT) means I'm thinking about trying to get the RS4 to circa 550bhp. What I'd like to hear is "sure Clive, just put those Sportec replacement intercoolers on, and a couple of hybrid turbos - no need to change the downpipes or engine internals - and you'll be there" :-)

However, I'm not sure it's going to be that simple.... thoughts?

RS6 hybrids, FMIC, fuelling and another MRC remap should get you close to 550bhp. Why don't you try the AWE IC's if you don't fancy cutting the bumper up - half the price of the sportecs and at least on a par perfromance-wise (although I haven't actually seen any details stats for them, just a bhp claim).

Nige.

Slightly off topic Clive so apologies, but what is the current state of your TT?

Cheers

2 turbos, an FMIC, a set of injectors and a fuel pump, couple of bits and pieces and a remap and you get around 550-560 BHP :D

What sort of prices are we talking about, fitted?

Send me a PM, and let the discussions commence

Cheers

Nige, they look to me like they are designed to fit an S4, not RS4 - AWE talk about the issues with fitting RS4 ICs to S4s and how their offering solves that - I assume that would create fitting issues in reverse?

Clive, if I remember correctly, the only cutting work required on the S4 to fit the AWE IC is the bumper .... this shouldn't even be neccessary with larger RS4 bumper - ask AWE if they have tried it on an RS4 - someone must've done it! Or you could get a bespoke set made up, but IMHO, the increases will be minimal compared to an FMIC - you just won't get the surface area that the FMIC gives. Have you thought about using an Aquamist setup with the std IC's?

Look at the pics on the SWE site Nige - the pipes on the end tanks point in different directions... (or have then been stupid and not shown the IC from the same side in each pic - they show stock S4, stock RS4 and AWE - the AWE and stock S4 ICs have the same pipework, the RS4 looks different).

Aquamist - not really considered it for the RS4 - I don't want to rely on that - want to make the power "properly" ;-)

talk to JohnRS4......... he went that route and had more problems than enough at the start, I think he did get it sorted in the end.

I wouldn't rely on an Aquamist system to push a car to reliable 550BHP, it's more of a bandaid really... It does help during summer with keeping performance equal-ish to colder weather performance though.... Matter of fact is FMIC+hybrid turbos will definitely do 550 on an RS4.

LOL - I just want my car back. So I can run it in and bring it back to you to spend more money! ;-)

Drop me an IM with your thoughts on the RS4 :D

I'm working towards the turbos, manifolds, fmic, fuel and head work.

I will soon get an fmic, just waiting for the reviews on the new mrc product.

I think fmic is the best up grade after full exhaust and chip.

Then when you need new turbos go hybrid and manifolds.
If you can afford it get the head skinned polished and ported and the inlet manifold and do the fueling up grade.
