100k on an RS4?

Post by Atom120 » Fri Feb 03, 2006 6:01 pm

Hello,

I've been looking at RS4s for a while, and am now in a position to get one - I've found one at M65Motorsport, with 100k on the clock, for what seems like a ridiculously cheap £18995. Nogaro Blue with full black leather, one owner from new, and FASH - and just been serviced.

Is 100k too much for an RS4 (wouldn't have thought so) - and has anyone come across M65Motorsport before?

I've got an Ariel Atom and a Ford Transit at the moment - I'm looking at replacing the Transit with the RS4 :)

Thanks in advance,
Andy

Andy,

Mine has 160K on it, and has had far less problems than many on here. However, thats not to say it won't be a dog. I have had many mk1 GTI's, all 1.8's and each car was very very different - I would not be put off by the mileage but I would deffo look through the service history, drive it & stroke it a bit. I always like to smell cars as well.

Thomson is right - It should be ok for a 100K but of course you have to try and establish what condition it is in and how it was driven / looked after in the process of getting to 100K. Not entirely easy. Read the buyers guide. Take a test drive in at least one other RS4 to get some level of comparission (preferable a lower milage one) if you can get a current owner to come look at with you.

Once you get the Registartion No or chassis No. Call any Audi dealer service dept to establish the cars service history. Also one of the lads on here may be able to tell you if its on the site's register.

He got the car with 120k on it and my old pal JonP did most of the milage, i was pretty sure he was festidious in getting the car serviced and maintained , and i think Jon only did 2 trackdays that i know of in that car.
It would be fair to say that the engines ae built to last at least 200k without major work, and your more likely to suffer problems in other areas eg: Gearbox/Drive train etc
Cheers

To be completely factual about my car (i think it is important for when i come to sell my baby) ((although I have had several beers with the rugby (((c'mon England)))) I bought her about 21 months ago with 156K on the clock and JonP had only done 1 track day with her at lemans, the rest was general day to day mileaghe to and from work for the man !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since then I have spent thousands getting her to the standard she is in today,

Anyway, the point is even with 156K on the odometer when I purchased my baby she still had half the problems many had had on the forum. So basically she's not a bad old girl.

My point is some are slags are some are not, much like real life really !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lived/Lives in Berkshire, works in North Wales, 200 miles per day. Sold the RS4 as had agreed a deal to do more commuting in the helicopter with his business partner.

I am sure JonP will confirm when he gets time to call in.............................

"Hmmm i can remember one other outing"

Really JR when was that then? JonP told me she had only ever done one.

Anyway deffo 152,000miles (243,000 Kilometers) when I picked up the car, almost two years ago now. It just gets better and better everyday.

Now showing exactly 166726miles

Just got back from MRC, running better than ever

Been looking into this whole milage issue recently. This is due to the fact that my mate just bought a 325 touring that's 4yrs old with 120,000 miles on it. He paid £7k and it's loaded & runs sweet as a nut.

Also the car I often drive to work is a Honda Civic with 160,000 on the clock - again it is sweet as a nut and happily revs to the red line.

I guess if you put aside a grand a year for the odd wheel bearing or CV joint and run either cars I mention above for 3 yrs you save big cash and only MIGHT have to replace components I have had to replace on cars with only 25,000 miles under their belts.

My father's A6's V6 engine was shot at 60k and smoking like a Beagle despite gentle use over 6 years and FASH - he got about £4k for it :( . An RS4 here is running happily at 160,000. Luck of the draw is my approaching conclusion... :?:
