AST suspention

Post by Taymir » Tue Dec 06, 2005 1:22 pm

Decided to change my stok suspension, read all the posts on almost every audi site :D Most people get them self H&R (coil-overs, or PCS) or K&W (var 3), because H&R PCS is the same kit as Bilstain PSS9 witch gets out of order in something like 10 000 km (2 of my friends who bought them, are very disappointed with that fact :D ) buy the way H&R stopped the production of PCS you can only get PSS9(absolutely the same) and H&R coil-overs are not rebound adjustable. About K&W var. 3, because i got big AP-racing brake kit i heard that there were difficulties fitting the rear dampers, plus the front dampers are noisy ("knocking sound", that’s what I have been told buy a person who uses them on RS4). Then I decided to get my self a AST suspension, i will be the first one to get it on rs4 :D heard many positive comments from AST owners. So if some one knows something about AST i will be very interested to hear your opinions.
Its a young Brand, so the should work on quality very seriously

Interesting comments.
A bit troubled by the suggested failure of dampers at <"10000kms"??

Yes, I personally now 2 people with PSS9 (PCS) suspension failure, they use their car every day, maybe the roads in Moscow were I live are a little bumpy :D but it is still not a reason for a such short damper life.

Ok, I finally fitted AST suspension and guess what, I had to send it back because AST cant find the right adjustment for RS4 :D I will tell you more, they don’t sell RS4 suspensions any more  And now the question is KW Variant2 or Variant 3, people who use Variant 3 say that they adjusted it only once so Variant 2 is more reasonable? will be grateful for any comments.

H&R is superb with 40k on it vast difference between fully hard and soft 2 min to change, most important to get the ride height right. Absolutely no issues with the product.
What arbs have you gone for and are you on stock bushes ?
These are equally as important if you want good handling.
Sorry to hear of your issues having looked at a few cars with the KW suspension they felt quite soft on middle settings but as I have not lived with them it hard to comment. Why not go for stasis?

I have the stasis kit - Incredible damping and plenty of adjustment.

Don't expect a quiet ride (very very noisy) nor any customer service what so ever, pathetic!

I got stage 3 RS4, AP brakes, tanoga flywheel and short shifter (apr. 450HP), just started to modify the suspension what can you recommend?, I ordered BBS LM with 265/35/19 Yokohama Advan v103, and i got Power Flex (not installed yet, waiting for the suspension). Thanks.
