Only 35,000 miles, but this means I've got a large bill in 5,000 miles. How much exactly will the 40,000 miles service cost?

service will be pricey... IIRC £800 quid? Just had mine done at 37k miles.

Where are you based? You could use AMD, they will be circa £700 including VAT. (I think!) You won't get an Audi stamp, but they certainly know what they're doing. PM me for a contact there.

Cam belt service is approx. £500 without the recommended extras such as the water pump. The service itself is approx £350 so if its all done properly you'd be looking at just over £1000 from an Audi centre. Independents will be less obviously.

I think I would be asking for a drop in price for the service costs coming up. Are you local to where the car is, could always walk away and see what he comes back with.

I bought an A6 Quattro Sport near a cambelt change and negotiated 50% payment by the selling dealer.

Shouldn't be too difficult to negotiate, try it

Budget £1000 and you won't have any surprises......by the time you throw in an oil change/new plugs etc, don't expect too much change

don't want to say too much, but looks like my old car and i think it had more miles on it than that when I sold it !!!, a few track days under its belt too.

Should have no sat nav if it's the same car.

good luck.

Are you for real? your first post on this site and you amazingly find your old car which happens to have everything wrong with it now. Can't understand it when you say 'it looks like my old car', it was either yours or not yours, what was it? Please give us your name and I can verify this with the previous owners in the Audi service book.
