Chip for 93 octanes

All the chips of all the mayor German companies are made for 98 octane gas, so what about a chip made for the premiun 93 octanes.
What will happend if I get a MTM chip and I run it with 93 octanes? Will it run less than stock?
I call the distributor in the U.S. in Florida for MTM and ask him about this problem, and he told me that, the chips that are made for U.S. cars are reprogram for 93 octane. Do anybody knows what I´m talking about? and if thats true, where can I get a chip for my RS4 to run it with 93 octane gas?
:?

The tuner in Florida should be telling you the truth. Big tuners will tune the chips for varying qualities of fuel, and sometimes atmospheric differences.

My US ABT/AMS S4 chip is "detuned" for 93 octane fuel. I am not sure the RS4 was ever sold in places where only 93 octane fuel was available. Check your owners manual and you'll see that 95 octane fuel is not recommended and that 98 octane fuel is required. I think your best bet would be to contact someone like MTM in Germany directly and see whether you could have a special 93 octane version chip available. Since there are no RS4s in the US, you'll likely have a hard time buying a chip for it there. I just imported an RS4 into Ireland and had a heck of a time finding 98 octane gas initially.

Europe uses the RON convention, where as US uses Octane (mom?) i believe.

So 98 RON = ? 96MOM ?

So ensure you clarify what definition of fuel grade you're talking about.

We used the same gas as in the USA, so I guess is Mom, and the octane is 93 for unleaded supreme gas.

The US uses (RON+MON)/2 or R+M/2 for octane ratings.

US 93 R+M/2 equals roughly to Euro 98 RON.

That is correct... here in Europe we use RON , in the US & Mexico its MON ... and 98 RON is rouhly 93 MON like Mihnea said ...
