Post by Kenhk » Sat Aug 06, 2005 6:10 pm

My car was running smoothly early today.
After parked for three hours, I could not turn it on again.
Actually, it is on but down within a second.
I tried unplug the battary and reconnect it after twenty mins.
It still down again after trun on.

Anyone has any idea?

I was remap with Revo.

Pls help.

Sounds like the imobiliser... Have you tried the spare keys?

Thanks Phil,

I have run Vagcom and found serveral fault code,

Address 01:Engine
18058 Powertrain Data Bus: Missing Message from Instruments Cluster
P1650-35-00
17978 Engine Start Blocked by Immobilizer
P1570-35-00
Readiness 0110 1100

Address 03: ABS Brakes
18258 Powertrain Data Bus : Missing Message from ECU
P1850-35-10---Intermittent

Address 17: Instruments
01177 Engine Control Unit
49-00-No Communications

Address 25: Immobilizer
No Faults Found
or DTCs not Supported by controller
or a Communication error occurred

What are all these about?
And anyone know where is the immobilizer located? built inside the ECU ?

I have checked with Revo because there is a function of anti-thief in their software. But Doug Harris replied it was not possible the software went into anti-thief without the SPS.

Is it true? Anyone has any experience with Revo as the same symptom?

The official dealer here has no idea at all! :bash:

My tunner claimed it might be a chip problem inside the ECU.
Is there any firm can fix the problem without replacing the whole ECU?

Thanks for any advice.

If the codes are cleared does the car restart or the codes return?

Do you have both the keys in the car or even on the same key ring??
On occasions the reader coil on the key barrel picks up both keys and immobilises the car.

The "two key" one is not as daft as it sounds!!

Thanks Philip

Yes, the code return after I cleaned it and restart the car.
It acts the same way, it starts then down within a second.
I also tried both keys with the same result but they are not on the same ring.

Any advice if any Audi guy or tuner here?

Might be worth checking the connection to the ecu... Unplug and reconnect.

Phil,

I tried, nothing changed.

In any case, if I need to change or refresh the ECU, can I get free remap from Revo? as it is the same ECU and or same car, same user.

Does anyone have the same experience for remap?

Hi Ken,

have you had your Audi dealer look at the car? It's definatley a 'car' rather than software issue, have you had the clocks out or had any work done on anything prior to this happening? Your ECU, clocks, and key need to be communicating in order for the car to start.. something is obviously causing problems. It looks as though you're having ECU communication problems, could be down to wiring.

If you have to have your ECU replaced then we would put software on your new one. We have recently changed alot of our dealers in the Asian region. I'm not sure who you dealt with originally when you had software installed?!

Not that I think this will help you much the imobiliser is built into the instrument cluster. Or at least it was on my 97 S4.

Thanks Golich & Kev,

I will toll my car to Audi HK for inspection.
The software was installed through Gilbert of Invo

Will keep you post.
