Ok , I know it´s a 4WD drive car, but I´m sure some donuts can be done. I´ve seen the Tiff Nedle video testing the RS4, and the guy only had fun while playing with the hand brake. Have some of you tried to do this? Is it possible to lock the rear wheels with the hand brake and have the front wheels doing the job/donuts for you ?

I know this is not the car for this kind of fun, and propably if made several times it will damaged the 4WD system and some other parts, but I´m sure if made once in a while just to feed the addiction wont beat this baby that much

How on earth do you do a donut with the rear wheels locked?

That would be one expensive donut!

With a 993 Carrera 4 S it´s an easy job. You just have to lock the steering to one side while running and than use the hand brake to let the rear end brake loose, and as soon as the the rear tires slide a bit, you give full power with the steering lock , the car spins and makes several donuts in the same place, it´s great to see from outside and even better to feel inside

Haven´t you seen the way Tiff Nedle brake loose the rear tires? He´s using the hand brake to do so.

Maybe in the 4S Porsche it´s easier because you have more power on the rear wheels than on the front, so the the rear keeps spining all the time.

Just thought I'd let you know that I saw Russ Swift doing donuts in a Mitsubishi Evo (something) at Castle Combe on Saturday. Don't know how he did it, but it was impressive all the same. Wouldn't want his tyre bill mind you.

I wouldn't want to do a donut in my RS4 (or anyone elses in fact) - a Caterham 7 is brill for that sort of fun. My last posting was to show that it could be done in a 4WD car...

You can do a donut! I've done this several times. But don't try it in the dry. Way to much grip and will put some serious stress on everthing.

Find one MASSIVE car park and I mean REALLY big space because even in the wet the quattro gets some impressive grip and acceleration. The handbake method will work. I simply rolled along in 1st at about 10mph turned in very sharply and slipped the clutch. This had the RS taking on a seriouly fast and very wide four wheel broadside the first time on turning rapidly in the other direction she took on a classic tight donut but at speed! The second time I managed to get the donut from the get go. BE WARNED you really need a hell of a lot of space to do this. Best in snow or a really wet area to be kind to the drive train.

Bloody hooligan

The Evo at Castle Combe was doing a donut in the "normal" way of a rear wheel drive car - within the width of the track. I don't know much about Evo's - perhaps there is some electronic jiggery-pokery to play with to alter the balance of power delivery to the 4 wheels?
