Boost Pressure

Post by zeke » Fri May 27, 2005 11:34 pm

I recently install a boost gauge (Auto Meter with memory and warning light) in my car, right now I´m running with the stock chip (I took the GIAC out because of the low Mileage) and my car is boosting only 17.2 psi, I don´t know what the pressure is in Bars, but is this right?

Adios y Gracias

From here http://www.turbobricks.com/resources.ph ... nt=psi2bar

1 psi = 0.06895 bar
1 bar = 14.50326 psi

So 17.2 psi = 1.18594 bar

IIRC the stock code usually peaks at about 1.1 bar and holds at 0.8 bar.

Hi

I would like to know what the boost pressure (bar)

should be for RS4 with MTM 458 conversion.

Any help appreciated

Cheers Tom.

Is that the same pressure as the S4?

S4 standard pressure is 0.8 bar. With chip app 1.5 bar

RS4 with MTM458 about 1.5-1.7 bar

Stock RS4 1.1 bar

MTM chip is variable, and has been seen as high as 1.8 bar.

Not with K03s it isn't. About 1.3 bar is about as far as you can sensibly go without risking turbo damage, and even then 1.3 bar isn't healthy.

I know there is at least one tuner in the US who does a 1.5 bar S4 remap, but there are a lot of reports of turbo failure!

With KO3`s max boost was 1.5 bar with ABT chip. I know because I had one. In US S4 has smaller oil return lines than EU model. That`s why they have broke so many turbos. That`s what I have heard.

I recently install the MTM chip with the exchaust system and my peak is 26 psi or 1.8 bar. I did it, at sea level with a temp of 35 C (95 F) very hot with high humidity. When I run the car in Mexico City (2,250 mts or 7,382 ft. above sea level) my peak boost goes down to 20 psi or 1.38 bar.
:(

My fuel economy at the highway at 160-190 kms is 15 L /100 km

Revo peaks at 1.4 bar. Seen it with my own two eyes :o

Do anybody knows why when I go up in altitude (2,250 mts above sea level) my boost goes down to 1.38 bar from the 1.8 I'm getting at sea level
