the suede type wheel looks very shabby
what options were available as a replacment,
leather? leather perfed? suede (alcantara)
which looks better?
i suppose i could get by existing wheel recovered - any suggestions for leather workers in the north west.
thanks

Leather was standard, the alcantara was an option.
Why does it look shabby ?
The best bet would be to get a suede brush (e.g. from a shoe shop) and give it a going over.
You may find someone will do a swap with you for a leather one if you really don't like yours,
or look out for a leather one and then sell yours. I certainly wouldn't contemplate having it
recovered in leather.
Imo the leather is better for the road, but if you do a bit of serious driving the alcantara is
less slippy when your hands get hot.
Cheers,
John.

On the alcantara steering wheel, Nubuck cleaner/brush/bar works a treat....its the better steering wheel full stop

Keep in mind that the alcantara and the suede are two different option, the suede one are thicker then the other steeringwheels available for the RS4.
I love my suede one, and wouldnt trade it for the world!

Daniel, your steering looks great, is this available as a retrofit option?

Driven my car with standard leather wheel for years and when the offer of a suede wheel came up, I could not resist, (thanks Doc) and wish I had done it sooner, only issue is with my knob

it seems to have got the pox, bald spots all over it

Then buy an alcantara knob, it cost "only" 70,-€uros
