Indeed...I think the most I've ever managed was about 285..on a motorway run I might add! - Normal is about 220-240.

Been in that 'there must be a damn Optimax station around here somewhere' situation too many times which is why I carry an emergency bottle of Millers with me now!

Never got more than 280.
I am normally at '0 miles left' by 260. And yes, 20 miles on reserve is what I normally allow for.

However, I did recently run out before this 20 miles was up about 2 miles short of the garage (on an uphill bit of road too as it happens).
I did however hear the fuel pump whining like crazy a few miles before this, so did have that feeling of impending doom

The least I've got to a tank was 120 miles - maybe this would be a better measure of nancies vs boy racers

I don't know what all the fuss is about optimax & millers. One tank of regular through the thing will hardly kill it. And if it was an emergency surely half a tank of regular/super topped off with optimax as soon as you get the chance can't hurt. It certainly beats running out and having to walk !

Over 300

Post by derdle » Thu Apr 21, 2005 1:09 pm

You gotta be joking - what colour is the sky on your planet?

I normally get the fuel warning at anything between 200 and 225, unless of course you want to buy the car, in which case I do get well over 300 to a tank full cos I am a really careful driver and don't use the performance.

Yeah right.

Not joking, but the fuel warning does pop up with 25ish miles to go, so I see it too at around 230.
the 260 is when it finally days zero miles range left.

I do 50 miles each way to work, 20 of which is country lanes. The rest in Mway, all generally done at about 95 ( Of course if your using that as evidence it is kmh  :ban: ) so I'm not exactly light footed :bigblink:

Just filled up tonight on my way home and as I left the garage it read 410!!!!

Had been stuck in heavy motorway traffic all the way home doing a very righteous 50-60mph :(

When I leave tomorrow for work there won't be any traffic and I expect it to be reading 220-240 very quickly :<beep>_you:

Most was 302 and 28 mpg on a 50 mph leg of journey through France on very busy motorways, the least is 128 miles on a mad blast across Scotland from Stanrear to Trune when a ferry was cancelled and had to get there PDQ :rocker:

Just to let you guys know from an S4 drivers perspective, that the guys getting low 200s are what I am experiencing with my s4 in city driving and low to mid 300s on motorways. So I guess the extra performance doesnt cost you much extra at the pump. Good to know when i start modifying mine to rs4 performance levels.
Cheers

I get pretty much always 260 to a tank (my run to work every day is 30 miles each way with 60% Motorway). The most I ever got is 285 the other week whenI had to take the missus on a trip round the big London Park and Ride to Bluewater (did a pretty constant 65-70 most of the way with the occasional space to blast. Warning light normally comes on with about 20 to go, normally get fuel within 10 miles of range reading 0 driving along going boll*x, boll*x, where's a bloody Shell when you want one!! :)
