Oil in Intercooler

Post by matt116 » Wed Apr 20, 2005 9:14 am

Just had my RS4 serviced and my mechanic has noticed oil in the RHS(?) intercooler but nothing in the other one. He thinks the oile seals have gone in the turbo but 2 Audi garges and Audi themsleves have siad that this is normal and there should be oil in only one intercooler.

Has anyone else come across this problem?

Many thanks

It is normal to find some oil in the intercoolers and pressure pipework as the crank oil breather vents into the air intake system (an emissions thing).

How much is Some??? and on which side is breather related oil more likley to show up in?? at what point do you start worrying about turbo's?? has anyone on here fitted an oil catch tank to prevent breather oil getting back to the intake??
