Is no one familiar with this? (sorry for kick?)

OK, I've waded through 5 pages of interesting information, but I have another question!

What is the usual format for getting your wheels checked? Do you guys normally take it to an aftermarket wheel & tyre specialist and then book it into Audi, or book it directly with Audi and trust them to be honest with you?

Had my wheels checked earlier this year, you book it in with audi to have the wheels checked out under the lifetime warranty for bends/eccentricity and they look at them and check back with audi uk, then if eccentric or bent it gets re-booked in for measeurements to be taken to see if its a valid warranty claim, if they are bent between 2-5mm (i think) you get them replaced if soft wheels or offered the hard option.

Oh no this sounds like hell, i have also recently experienced wobbly steering syndrome so i had it in at Audi's and they re-balanced the wheels and swopped front to rear but it still did it so i took it to the local tyre fitter who showed me how all four were buckled or had a flat spot. Phoned Audi and its booked in for next thu and they will assess the situation and report there findings to Audi UK, please could someone do all this for me i dont think i can take much more.

That was easy, 5 new hard wheels

i have had Audi ( two seperate stealers) refuse to change mine and am now considering just to opt for the hard ones, car is nearly 6 years old. I mean what is considerd as "lifetime" ?. i have a feeling sooner or later the c***s are going to back out of it altogether!

I got offered soft ones or hard ones it was my choice, the soft ones come with a lifetime guarantee and the hard with a two year guarantee, couldnt see the point in the soft ones just to have them buckle again.Even the spare is being changed and its not costing a penny ahhh that tastes nice.

Have just had one buckled wheel diagnosed whilst the car was in for brakes. Replacement process seems extremely straightforward, they have decided to replace both wheels on that (rear) axle. Have driven the car since diagnosis and the vibration is only noticeable on perfect roads, like a wheel that just barely needs re-balancing. Judging by the date stamps on my existing wheels (four are 00 and the spare is 02 as that is when the owner bought it) this will be a first for my car.
Does anybody out there have original soft wheels?

How long does it take for the dealer to get the wheels in? i went in three weeks ago and havnt heard a thing so i decided to give them a call today and was told it would probably be somewhere near mid feb 2007 before they get the wheels in.....

Sounds about right Dhali, i posted on 19Oct that i had 5 new wheels and they arrived Friday just gone.

Mine took a week??? Time to check part numbers me thinks!

Yes i would, youve probably been given soft again. My missus kerbed one of mine and Audi replaced it within days with a new soft one. The soft are in good supply apparently its the hard ones they have to order from Germany.

Aah. That's a relief. I wanted soft. Audi's justification for the soft wheels were that they deform to protect the car. I would expect a lifetime structure guarantee for the car with hard wheels. Having said that, this is the first time my car has ever had a wheel replaced so I must be doing something right. The game of avoiding potholes provides many hours of entertainment on otherwise dull roads!!

So for clarity, am I correct in thinking :-

The original OEM RS4 soft\safety wheels are indicated by part number 8D0 601 025 T 8.5Jx18H2 ET20, and are covered under lifetime warranty.

The latterly provided hard wheels are indicated by part number 8D0 601 025 AE1H7, and are coverd by a maximum two year warranty.
