Anybody out there experienced the annoying creeks & squeeks coming from thre rear seats while driving over 'bumby' roads.Tried lube and grease on the hinges but no joy.Even a new miltech exhaust can't drown out this 'din'.Driving me nuts !

It can be from several sources.

1st of are you sure its the rear seats? One way to determine this is to get someone to drive while you move about one side of the rear seat to the other to determine what is squeaking. If that doesn't find it. Fold a seat one at a time. Then both seats. Try folding back the roller blind so it is not in its slots. Try taking it out all together. Drop both seats and grip the rear door while someone drive not exactly legal with you loose in the boot but its the best way to find out what is rattling/squeeking.

In the case of my last S4 I found the top pin that holds the seat from folding down was screwed out too much and was rubbing to cause the squeak this was confirmed by a residue of paint and worn metal. Simply adjust the pin. If you're unsure if this is the source some grease on the pin will relieve the prob temporarily but it will return.

Brooner, found the leather of his seats was causing an annoying rubbing. He moisturised the sides/surfaces that rubb i.e. the split in the rear seats and either sides by the doors and this cured his prob.

The other source is the rear roller blind parcel shelf type thing. The slotted hole that this engages into at either side of the boot (not the main location points for the whole blind body) tend to wear or can be damaged by folk twisting down or up on the blind when removing it from the two slots. This is a crap design, the plastic slots either wear or break after 3-4years the only Audi repair is two new complete interior side panels at £120 each. This happend on my S4 and the RS is heading down the same path so I leave the blind open. I'm thinking about getting some aluminium slots machined up to replace this crap design that Audi have ran with for years.

The other source is the rubber pads on the main body of the roller blind and the dog guard.

Another more unusual rattle/squeek in my last S4 Avant came from the boot only latching on the first safety catch as the pin mechanism plate had slipped. That one took a long time to establish eventually sitting in the back with the seats down while someone drove established this in combination with the fact that the indicators won't flash when you activate the remote locking because it knows one of the doors is not closed correctly.

Have tried to drive with a mate ssitting in the rear like a dog.He seemed to locate this noise coming from the seats so will now have to re-investigate again.Will keep you posted,cheers

no but he left 'marks' on the rear carpet

Just can't have that......ruins the drive.Will dissmantle everthing if needed or 'pump up the volume' !

Blame it on the wife, I do. But then again, she has a wooden leg.

Boot liner solves the dog stain problem, adjusting the stop/locks usually solves the back seat, and the wooden leg can be traded in for hi-tech alloy one with skin coloured paint......next....

I seem to fix my sqeek by greaseing the locking pins and as Golich say's condition the leather with some leather cream seemed to cure my prolem but i need to do it again as it seems to be coming back never had time yet tooooooo busy the joy's of being oil feild trash

Thanks for all the info....have greased,lubed every possible component in the rear but still the rear single seat behind the driver's seat still continues to 'creek' when driving over uneven roads.When folded down there is no problem....silence ! So will continue trying to get rid on this annoying creek and keep you posted,cheers.

Check that the fixings for the bench are done up tight. Probably at the front near the footwell.

My old golf did this years ago, when there is any weight on the bench ie with the seat folded down the weight stops it from moving about.
