Just thought id let you guys know the realaistic value of RS4's from a person at the brink of selling.

Im the guy with the cheapest private RS4 in the UK (Auototrader£28k 32k miles no Sat Nav). The car is MINT and has not turned a wheel for 12 weeks especially in this Artic weather.

I first started advertising in November for £34k and after looking around I dropped this to £32k I got a few timewasters looking to PX £5k scoobys and £20k cash so I dropped to £30k in January. No calls.

Interestingly three people with R32's have called so they could be on the road to RS ownership throught the high end VW route.

My benchmark for car values has always been the Sunday Times motoring section. On sunday the Hairpin Motor Compay had an RS4 similar to mine for 29,999. This would seem to show that if gagarges in London-shire are offering RS4's for sub £30k, private owners need to take notice.

Loads of calls for my car now and a local chap seems to be interested, fingers crossed.

I noticed that FranC on here had his for sale for about £35. Trouble is that most people with that sort of money are looking for a newer car and 2001 is old now.

Am I right?

oh and when i called fontain they said they are getting offerd loads of 4's

expensive cars like these will not sell well during the winter months (same for houses actually) but the market is now picking up again.

I know of one chap who has recently sold his car for over 35k but it is heavily modded.

BTW I was thinking mine was worth 29/30k for my late 2000, fully loaded with Sat Nav Plus, side airbags and sunroof with Audi warranty, currently on 35k miles. Is that far out?

I would certainly agree with that but if you have £35 k to spend on a car surely whether its winter or xmas etc would not make any difference.

I hope that you guys have more sucess that I have. I think being up in Aberdeen is a major issue but I would estimate that there must be about 30 RS4's up here that ive seen.

My local Audi dealer said they would sell it for 29499. So you can imagine what they offered for it!

Your car is easy worth £30k. The most frustrating thing is that EVERYONE wants Sat Nav. I had to put 'No Sat Nav' in my ad due to the amount of people asking. When I bought my car my first question was 'is it still for sale' then 'is it hi-tech fabric'. Most buyers want full leather as they think that the fabric was a cheaper option.

people that say that they will have to speak to their wife about it.... there are something else!

Why not think of putting in Nav? Dippy has done it in his S4 using ebay to source the parts IIRC and it'll get you more than it'll cost in parts come to sale time.

I agree with Simon, there seems to be a bit of a slump at the moment, but I'm not sure when it will pick up.

Just what happens when cars get older......pretty much the same as the RS2. They took ages to come down in price.

Be interesting to see what an RS4 wiil be in 2-3 years....

I had my car on at £33k and was offered £32k from 3 different lads,all of whom were south England it was only thanks to the DVLA f@cking up HPI checks that the sale never went through.

The car is no longer for sale,due to the M3,the car i was going into being <beep> in winter weather.

I was even offered £31k against a used M3 from a main dealer.

Never could quite understand this one myself either.

For me an onboard Sat Nav system in any car is a bit like a home computer, no matter how many updates you get for it, eventually going to want to change the whole system for something that is capable of taking advantage of the technology which has become available in the mean time.
The sat nav and it's display system in the RS4 is not what you would call 'bang up to date' technology and I personally consider it rather usless information, the main display is far too low in the centre console to be able to safely look at it for any amount of time, and the left, right, forwards, backwards arrows in the DIS are nothing more than note-pad directions in our current world of 3D perspective views and complete road layout schematics.

My honest suggestion to anyone considering buying an RS would to go buy one WITH OUT sat nav and give it a timeless 'classic' look even 10 years down the road from now. Then go out and buy yourself a spangly new dash-top sat nav unit with the money you would appear to be saving and replace it every couple of years like you would any other bit of electronic wizardary. You would also have the added bonus of being able to use it in the missus car aswell .

100% agree with the technology thing. At the end of the day it does not really get used very much after you have managed to know enough about it to show your mates it working then unless your RS4 is a rep-mobile you might as well have a road map and £2k in your hipper.

Rest assured it will not be given away but sometimes once you have come to the decision to sell its hard to get back to 'keep' mode.

There are so many cars advertised with Sat Nav just now I sometimes wonder if its factory fitted or a Halfords special velcro'd to the dash?

Got to say that your location is a big problem and if you cant find a local buyer you will have to make it very attractive,i considered franks also when looking but your are realistically looking at spending 2-300 quid and alot of time travelling to view just one car,i went from midlands to edinburgh for mine and that was a 10 hour round trip,guys from the south will need tempting somewhat to travel,noggy and hi tech isnt to everyones taste but the right man will come along if you wait,the hairpin car has alot more miles on it i think but good colour and spec i think its about right for the miles etc

If you saw where this car was designed you would understand that this car was built for this time of year, cold weather, difficult slippery terrain, and your NOT using it ?

Best time to sell now as its safer than any other car in these conditions..its not a cabriolet !

RS4ABZ12... Do you have an Audi warranty? For me this would make a big difference on a sale, I will definately try and sell mine with a few months left on it. I honestly don't think I'd buy one without one either. Lets hope they don't stop selling them.

Warranty has ran out. Although the dealer quoted £1350 for another 12 months which is just under double the isurance! probably better off dropping it off a cliff and getting a pay out than shelling out that much on top off all the other running costs. Probably best putting £1350 in a post office account and take the gamble.
