Newbie First poster... The enemy?

Hi all, just registered today and as usual with these forums, your advice and experience is amazing.

Anyway, I have an Estoril Blue 2002 BMW M3 with 15k on the clock and am considering defecting to the other side.

Can anyone give me a reason not to and does anyone want to swap?

Does the RS4 suffer in any way with it's 4x4 system? I know its in a different league but I had a couple of Calibra Turbo's - 4x4 made from cheese...

I have seen a few comments about Audi dealers being crap, is this true?

Is Merlin Purple a standard RS4 colour?

Anyone selling theirs?

Enough questions for now,

Ta!

Get one they are quicker and when u get bored you can upgrade to well over 400bhp,m3s may have the edge once a blue moon handling wise ie on a track in the summer, these are rapid all year round,i was looking at getting an m3 i like em but i couldnt keep up with the depreciation and possible bill for a popped engine so i stayed away.also had cav turbo with transfer box problems but not heard of anything going wrong with these and boy did i do some research, get out and drive one and see if its for you

Like Lengster i too thought about getting into an M3,the major factor in me not buying one and sticking with the RS4 is an M3 in the type of weather we have at the moment ie blizzards/ice, its more or less undrivable.
I defo need a car with 4wd,what with the weather we get up here and the RS4 fits the bill perfectly.
Cheers fc

Welcome to the site DeadEye.
Get one they are quicker
Not sure about that. Quicker how ? apart from the difference 4wd makes to useability.

Thanks for the advice, there are two for sale in my local Audi dealer - wioll test drive next week.

As far as which is quicker, my best kill is a E55 AMG - straight line up-hill drag on a dual carriage way. Can anyone else compare kills - ultimately I am most interested in which car is really the fastest.

The M3 is my first RWD car - I seem to spend all day with the DSC light flashing. I just don't think I was meant to drive an M3! - Even today in dry weather, banging it into second gear gave me a rev limiting wheel spin.

Standard versions of both, the M3 has better cornering and braking than the RS4, the RS4 has slightly better straight line speed, with the couple of mods (brakes/suspension) you will smoke em!

Do it!

Obviously wasn't me driving it then, have had several M3s have a go, both from standing start and moving, and as yet, have never been out-dragged. Even with the additional weight, the E55 is a faster car, only thing that has given me any problems so far is a Porsche turbo.

Most cases a standard 996TT will take a modded RS4 (depending in RS4 mods, wouldn't be a lot in it!!!) If your brother has the X50 and is running 495bhp (standard X50 is 450bhp, must be running extra boost!!!) sorry to say it would take the RS4 without a doubt.

Ask the simple1, he still has both I think!!!

He has the x50 and a dms upgrade , We both work together and travel 15-20 miles home each evening/mornning , He also has the dms cat's,
I borrow his he borrows mine , And even he admits this!!
Iam not saying the rs4 is the better car (because as a sports car it carnt touch the 911) But at high speeds ie 100- 150 Mph there really is nothing in our cars!

Merlin Purple was special order and there will only be a few in the UK.

RS4's are much more exclusive than M3's and no doubt have far more punch when simply tuned. I frequently exit quickly out of slippery junctions and have no problems with thinking my rear wheels will meet the nearest kerbs :D Traction is pretty outstanding but still had the light flickering at 70MPH the other day quite happily

Cheers
