RS4's Fontain

Post by RS4virgin » Thu Feb 17, 2005 6:36 pm

I'm considering buying an RS4. Been looking for a while have spoken to a company called fontain motors apparently they have 3 instock ranging from £29995-£34995 all one owner cars.

Does anyone know them or the cars they are selling.

Would really appreciate the info spoke to a maindealer who seemed to know a little about Rs4's, he told me not to expect to a get a one owner car as they are quite rare.

Thanks in advance.

fontain are one of the more established independent Audi dealers in the south east and they know what they are looking for RS and S car wise.
M3 CSL - Silver Grey, a few options.

I wouldn't trust Fontain nor Audi dealers.
I know someone who has car mileage clocking hardware. His biggest customer is Audi and VW dealers.
And the way they treat cars whilst in the dealership, you will not believe....

I'd buy privately, and do the necessary checks...

I have used Fontain a couple of times. I would say they know their market well, particularly the quick audi's but, and its a VERY BIG BUT, they are a small firm and if an engine goes pop if you are even 12 hours outside the warranty period its tough....and expensive. (in my case a snapped cambelt that was 1000 miles old) Bear in mind any pleading to Audi UK will do no good. Would they support their brand via the competition? Not a chance.
I may be selling mine in the near future, x reg silver all the toys and 458 BHP. Warrented by Audi UK for another 2.5 years. PM me if you want more on either subject. Max.

I agree entirely. See the owner, see where he lives. Ask the questions and then get the car checked over by the AA or someone like that. Buy an Audi warranty. Thats what the dealers do.

Another vote for the private purchase from me. Most main dealers seem to know little and care less. I was told some shocking porkies by main dealers during my search. But if you do go down that route it's worth trying to speak to the previous owner anyway. By the time his car is sold to the dealer he has no reason to be anything other than 100% honest with you.

Also bear in mind you can get a specialist (eg Kim Collins at QS tuning) to take a look at your prospective purchase. Vendor won't mind if he and the car are genuine.

Cheers, Richard.

Agree and disagree!

There is a good percentage of guys on this forum know where a lot of these cars have been whether it may be an Dealer or Private that owns them now, so it's always worth asking here!

As for mileage, I can't comment on Fontain (I wouldn't like to anyway!) but I can assure you that Audi main dealers wouldn't be doing any clocking, It's a strictly no, no thing for a main dealer to do, now that doesn't mean there could be a clocked car on the forecourt from a previous owner! It's not an offence to sell a clocked vehicle (private sale) as long as the person is telling the buyer (declares it).

I would be very careful what some ppl are saying here! I'm not disagreeing with some of the comments as yes it does go on!

Post the registrations and we can let you know if they are know to us, personally i would buy privately with FSH and then get the car re-warranted via Audi

Went to see the 21 k one there monday was actualy there when the car arrived , exacly what i was looking for millage and spec wise , then i went throught the docs and found a german stamp , they then told me it was an import.

If i had known that up front i would have not gone rushing accross london to see it , lesson to have a tick list of questions to ask so you don't get overexcited and rush of only to travel some distance to find out something that would put you off buying.

Apart from being an import and a minor scratch on the front bumper the 21k negaro blue one is a nice car , bearing in mind it was filthey when i saw it. I'm just nervious of buying an import.

Ken's car would be one to look at.... and Ryan Air ticket and glass of wine in the sun while you are viewing... if I was in the market for an RS4, I wouldn't dismiss this one....

I wouldn't worry as long as the price reflects the fact that it is an import.

Question- will Audi UK sell you a warranty on imports?

They should be up front with import cars, and not wait until you go through the docs to find out.

Thanks for all the info guys.

Spoke to amersham audi this morning to see if they could find me one(bought my S3 from them) spoke to the sales manager who seem to know his RS4's, he knew all about the nogaro blue one, one owner, import etc he'd been trying to buy the car for months and didn't know fontain had bought it.

I think i'm gonna stick with the dealer/specialist route but I will check with previous owners, history etc.

I'm booked in with fontain on sat to look at them, let you know how it goes :D

why does buying an import car put people off? I see this more and more. the cars are made in the same place. As long as it has full UK specification, has been well looked after and is serviced according to schedule then this shouldn't be a problem.

I have bought 3 imported Audi's in the past no problems!
