Due to this problem with bent wheels, is there any simple viaual way of checking the state of rims without workshop kit? 2-4 mm sounds like you need a Dial gauge rig. Tough to do on a forecourt. Is it noticable by a novice during a test drive? Does the Audi replacement warranty transfer with the car or is it only applicable to the original buyer?
Thanks.

RE: Wheel Checks Help Please
This has all been discussed before...please try using the search and dig up the info from there...
but....the soft wheel warranty is for the life of the car, and transferable between owners. If you're looking at a car with soft wheels, don't let the fact that it may have bent wheels put you off.

1-2mm deflection willl be very hard if not immpossible to see with the wheels still on the car, you will need to spin them up on a wheel balancing machine to check them out properly, any dents or buckles however small will be seen with the naked eye by this method.
Bent wheels can be balanced out!! Just because they feel in good condition when driving down the road doesn't mean they are.
