Does anyone have an opinion on main dealers when buying an RS4. Are they any better or worse than non Audi dealers like Swifts etc. Where am I likely to get the better car or deal?

the audi warranty is the best one and im in the middle of doing what i think is a decent deal with a main agent the price compares to non franchise dealers very well.some of em dream with 33k x plates leave em to it.the dealership in question was keen to do a deal and are prepping the car to as new condition even changing 2 tyres due to only having 3mm tread on em,i normally stay away from dealers as i buy with cash and know what im looking at but theyve offered a fair p/x on wifes focus and haggled on the price so all in all a happy ted so far, deals are there to be had at this time of year make the most of it before it picks up

As long as the car is still in warranty then buy on condition/spec rather than where/who you've got it from.
Many people will say buy privately as you will at least get to meet the owner and make your own assumptions. You'll rarely meet the owner when buying through a dealer.
Others take comfort in a dealer purchased car. Don't know why really, half the time they have no idea about the RS4 and will sell anything.
Do your own checks, HPI, call Audi Uk for the spec and history, and buy the extended warranty yourself.

The only advantage with a stealer is the full year Audi warranty and RAC cover with that. + There are some Audi Uk requirements placed on them like the 3mm min tread wear but you'd ultimately pay for that in the price. IMHO you stand the same chance of getting a dog or a good one at a stealership as you do from a private deal. I've bought from both. But overall I prefer dealing with Joe blogs simply because most of the salesmen I've come across are so full of sh#t they just insult my intelligence. There are exceptions tho. However when it comes to spending 30K there is something reassuring about buying from a stealership – even if misplaced Hhm not really helping you here...

I agree with all the responces above the main point being make sure the car is a good one,because thats what your left with when youve done the deal,letting the owner take you for a drive in it will give you a good idea of how its been looked after,if you go down the dealer route at least get in contact with the previous owner,this is a good forum and all the info and questions you need to be asking are here,i fired off loads of questions to the sales guy and he was on the ball on but many havent a clue,im sure that if you find a car and need help you will get it on here mate

DAVEP i havent actually got the car yet but will let you know if the wife doesnt like it must warn you tho im prepared to take a fair bit of her before id take it off ha ha
