Can anyone tell me what the 3 electric lines are in the rear side windows on the RS4?
My 2000 S4 avant doesn't have them. Is it something to do with the sat nav?

Thanks,
John

They're heating elements to clear the window. Only on one side for reversing...

Nothing to do with Sat Nav as cars fitted with this have a different base on the roof ariel.......and it is not FM radio either for the same reason......good question....

Dave P,
I thought they could be heating elements intially as well but there are only 3 lines in the whole window which doesn't seem to be enough to clear any condensation on it.
Also, on the car I have seen the electric elements are in both rear side windows.

Hrm...Haven't seen any with the lines in both sides...Need to find a pic of a LHD car to see if the lines are in the opposite side...

Hi John

These are the additonal antennas for the TV option. Has nothing to do with SAT Nav or heating (you will notice that if the windows are steamed up, these wires won't help to clear up the windows).

Interesting, I too was under the inpression that they were heating elements and would guess that the electric elements are both side to make standard whether LHD or RHD. Seems a bit of a wierd place to put TV antennae since they could just as easily go in the d-pillar (and I don't have the TV option).

Thanks everyone for your help.
Now, I wonder how easy it is to retrofit this windows into an S4....

I don't suppose any of the wiring exists within the loom for them anyhow.
